Installed new floor mats, adjusted tire pressures now that the weather is getting warmer, and gave her a good wash in preparation for my first lengthy road trip to South Carolina on Tuesday. Looking forward to seeing what the highway mileage is like, and getting to use the adaptive cruise control. Driving through the Appalachian Mountains is always a treat for me.

Not today, yesterday I had the recall for the recall to reset the control modules done by Ford mobile unit. Worked out really well — I’m impressed with the dealer’s mobile mechanic.

Put new shoes on my Sport. Went w/Firestone Destination AT2’s 235/70R17 all around

Have you taken it off road yet? I've read that the 235/70R17's don't rub, but I'd like confirmation.

I put oversized KO2 tires on my Jeep Liberty and rubbted ed at full steering, but it was never a problem. It made a big difference off road both in traction and clearance.

Sounds nice. Adaptive cruise is the best! It takes some getting used to. If you have lane centering (the button on the steering wheel) and ACC on the car basically drives itself.

Today I installed the MRT Axelback exhaust for my Badlands. In classic fashion it didn't go great for me. Read instructions ahead of time and have a real cutting tool, not a hand saw and a Dremel. After spending far too long cutting the muffler off, I ran into my biggest hurdle. Now IDK if I'm just bad at things, well I know I'm bad at things, but maybe I overlooked something. The instructions simply said "Insert the stock tube into the MRT Axelback" but the issue I ran into was, the tubing for the axel back step down at the connection point to the same diameter as the stock pipe, despite my best (and 3am chaotic) efforts I could neither insert the stock tube into the Axelback or the Axelback into the stock tube, so I called it quits, drove my wife's car to Advanced auto parts the next morning and bought a variety of exhaust connectors and tried them all out till one worked.

Install aside, I like it. Best i can describe it is Stock plus, little more presence at idle and low RPM without being a nuisance, and a bit of a deeper sporty sound when driving spirited. From inside the car, it sounds like if you have the "sound conditioning" from sport mode on all the time.

Not yet off road but clearance doesn’t seem much different from that of the 245/65’s, probably due to the narrower tread width. Have bounced it over some pretty good speed bumps with wheels turned and nothing scraped. I’m not sure, but there might be some interference with the trim levels other than BL unless they have a little lift.

I'm contemplating buying the 'Body Side Mouldings'. They seem pricey, unless the $329 is for both sides of the vehicle...

I put them on my original 2021 BS and when I traded that in, I had them put them on my 2024 BS. I get so many compliments on it.

Creeping up on 4 full years of ownership, so I had to renew the tags. Part of doing that is getting in a line with several hundred other cars idling off and on (to improve air quality, get it?) so that Oregon can do the emissions testing. This basically means hooking up a plug to the ODB2 and seeing if a code is present.

After waiting for two hours, it was my turn. Couldn't get the system to work. The attendant was about to kick me up the road and tell me to fix it and come back. I was already aware of an issue with this, but as far as I know, my vehicle already had that update done.

Fortunately another coworker came by that knew a trick. There is some kind of a glitch or issue with Bronco and Bronco Sport that when they connect the plug, it's just... dead. Apparently you have to shut the car off then plug in the connector and start the vehicle in order to get the diagnostic to start. So FYI for anyone else living in an air police state. I don't know if it is a feature or a bug, but I was able to get the test (paying another $25 to boot) and get the car re-registered.

Someone invented a handheld gun that could be pointed at at vehicles exhaust and would read the emission levels. It became available after the decision to have emission testing stations everywhere. So, we have vehicles spewing oil out the exhaust, and it doesn't get noticed until emissions testing two years later.

One of the things that bugged me a bit was that Ford chose to equip my Badlands with LED lighting everywhere BUT the taillight turn signals, brake lights, and backup lights. So today I took care of that and changed out the bulbs with LEDs:

For those are interested, the LED Bulb types you'll need are as follows:

Turn - 921 Amber
Brake - 3157 Red
Backup - 7443 White

Installation was a snap. Changing out the bulbs is well documented in the owner's manual but all you need is a 10mm nut driver or socket wrench. Always be careful when working the housing tabs off of the studs (you REALLY don't want to break one of those) but the whole change-out took me less than 15 minutes.

I used bulbs from Diode Dynamics (www.diodedynamics.com) as they are an American based company and the quality of their products as well as customer support are outstanding (3 year warranty, but I've had them in my Fiesta ST for nearly 6 years now without a failure). But for those on a budget there are admittedly less expensive options out there.

While it's hard to see in the daylight pic, the backup LEDs are probably the biggest improvement in the cars I've put them in, with a noticeably brighter and whiter light than stock.

Its just changing lamps. The wiring is all factory.
