The change from 235/65R17 to 235/70R17 makes no difference in width, but adds an inch to the diameter. The extra rubber will soften the ride but hurt your gas mileage a little. Well worth it in my opinion, plus you get 1/2" lift.
My guess is that they mean tongue weight when they are talking about the weight in the vehicle. I believe my badlands is only rated for 220 lb. tongue weight. For a trailer to track without sway, you need at least 10% of the trailer weight on the tongue. Depending on how the trailer is...
Well, maybe with all the battery issues these vehicles have a manual would make sense. We used to park our truck facing downhill, so if the battery was dead, we could push start it. I'm guessing these BSs wouldn't start that way even with a manual transmission.
The big advantage of manual...
The only time I liked a manual transmission was granny gear going downhill so I didn't ride the brakes. Most of my driving is on pavement, so I won't ever own a manual again.
I got stuck in a big mud hole once because I went into it in too high a gear. If I'd had an automatic, I would have...
Loved that story BBBS$Les.
I use Sport mode in the winter when I have a short drive to visit my grandkids and the drive isn't long enough to properly warm up the engine in cold weather. Putting it in Sport mode warms it up quickly.
I usually drive in ECO mode, and when I tromp on the...
After sitting, did the power come back?
My Jeep LIberty had the turbo replaced under warranty. A couple of years later it happened again. Serious loss of power, and I was pulling an aluminum bass boat. I could hardly get it up to highway speed, and it took forever when it did. I ordered a...
My experience with plastic bins is that the black plastic is much tougher than the clear. I have some I've had for 15 years or more, that they apparently no longer make.
If you're putting the totes under the cargo shelf, I'm not sure you need a lid on it. But, when I camp, I need boxes...
Let us know how you like your Maverick. I wasn't aware they existed until after I got my BS. I might have ordered one if I had known. But, I'm very happy with my BS.
I bought a case for mine to try to limit the accidental panic alarms when I bend over with the keys in my pocket. It was way too big, because the key fob is WAY TOO BIG.
When out in the wilderness, I like having a spare key. I have one in an RFID case hidden on the rig, and a spare manual...
Since you tow a lot more than most of us, have you changed the ATF yet? At what mileage and what was the condition like?
I have just over 20,000 miles on mine so far, and I don't tow very often. The avatar photo is the only time I've towed with it. I noticed that the manual recommends more...
Long ago, I drove a Karman Ghia with a 1200cc engine. Merging safely has little to do with acceleration, and more to do with discretion.
That said, I like the acceleration of the Badlands. I pull a small utiility trailer for camping (as shown in my avatar), and it works great for that. No...
I made my own crossbars to carry a canoe. I used aluminum tubing with oak dowels inside to prevent buckling. I attach it to the rails with U-bolts. I don't leave it on the vehicle when I'm not hauling a canoe. You can make the crossbars as long as you need.
I saw this idea on the internet...
I live in the southwest, so I've avoided black ice most of my life. If I were going to have to drive on it, I'd have studded snow tires. I was in Alaska for a bit one winter, and loved the way they handled on snow and ice.
The BMS has nothing to do with the voltage you're reading when the vehicle is turned off and the battery is rested. At less than 50%, you've shortened your battery life. If it is reading that low, you either have a bad alternator, a bad BMS, or most likelly, you don't drive on the highway long...
The more you keep your battery fully charged, and the sooner you start charging after running it down, the longer it will last. You'll notice how many Sport owners have had their batteries die and leave them stranded. Some get replaced under warranty, some not.
