But still better correct?
what's better the 2.0, no I wouldn't say that. you lose a tone of fuel milage for extra power you will hardly use. I use drive around town with the 1.5 and have no problem taking off from the flow of traffic if I want, but I drive normal so I don't even use all the acceleration that's in the 1.5 on the highway I am doing 75mph up grade 8 hills and the 1.5 does it no problem. the badlands has the option of a 1.5 and a 2.0 and several guys who have reviewed them had said if they were to buy one they would get the badlands fully loaded with the interior options (outer banks trim level) and opt for the 1.5 to make it better on gas. myself a badlands is almost useless for off roading up here as there really isn't much that is tame enough for low clearance vehicles. and you see a lot of people buying full size broncos. about all a bronco sport is good enuf for up here (doesn't matter what trim) is bad roads in the winter and following some of the dirt roads into the more remote lakes and checking out forestry site campgrounds. trying to 4x4 up here with your bronco sport is just a recipe for disaster.

Heritage limited had the 2.0L and Badlands Drivetrain? It was a Badlands with fancy labeling and special paint. Heritage and Heritage Limited are two different trims.
it had the option of 2.0 or 1.5, the one on the lot was the 1.5 when I bought mine, but it was a year older and the milage was to high for me. the normal heritage is the badlands with the upgraded paint and labeling and a special cloth seat.

I don’t think you can get the 1.5L on a Badlands model (someone correct me if I’m wrong on that) The drive train and clearance on a Badlands are both better than on the lower trim models. It might be by a small margin, but more ground clearance is better and the 4wd system is better for the purpose of the vehicle regardless of how you use yours.

Again I’m not saying the 1.5L models are bad by any stretch of the imagination as I have a Big Bend for the same exact reasons you have an OBX and would not currently trade it for a higher trim because I don’t need the higher trims additions and it is still perfectly capable for what I use it for.
However, that does not by any stretch of the imagination make an OBX a higher trim than a Badlands. Your logic on this topic is just flat out wrong brother.

the Bronco sport is intended for one market. the small category crossover market, it isn't a offroad machine it is a small crossover that was given some off road capability for families that want to go up rough roads to fish or camp. if you want a serious off road then the full size bronco fills that spot.
the big thing with the 2.0 in the badlands is it gives it a bit more torque which is beneficial for rocks and ruts when you want to keep engine speeds down but need the power, the lockable rear end is marginally better than a limited slip and is better in mud and rock crawling. the badlands gives you 1" more clearance, in reality that is still low for any serious 4x4ing.
Ground clearance is important for more than just back roads and rock crawling. Think SNOW. Folks get high centered (stuck) all the time in snowy conditions.

Never met to throw any shade on any other trim/s of the Bronco Sport... for me this Badlands was the most I could afford when looking during the days of market adjustments...ugh... I've owned a Tacoma and a Yukon fully specd out and honestly I don't miss any of the capabilities those rigs offered compared to my BLs.

Whether I were driving a Jeep Rubicon or a Ford Raptor I would still be careful to pick good lines when I'm off road. If rock crawling were coming. my way... honestly I'd be hesitant to play with my $75k to $100K big boy toy on aggressive trails

And with that totally modified/pricey Jeep, Tacoma or Bronco your not really calling that 12 MPG rig your daily driver like I do with my BL's avg 22MPG .

Sure love to be able to afford a weekend mobile and a daly work vehicle. But for now my little putt putt gets me to work and to the trails with very few limitations.

The normal Heritage is not the Badlands. The Heritage Limited was the Badlands with special paint and interior.

The BL is 2.0 only, go to the configurator and it’s easy enough to see.

As far as it’s off-road ability, there’s dozens of YT videos demonstrating that it’s far more capable than most casually assume. It’s been taken on some pretty gnarly routes by pros and held its own with surprising aplomb, including many that Jeeps and big Broncos are challenged by. The consensus is that the ‘25 BL is for real. And that’s before you get the Sasquatch package.

The key thing to remember though is that a Sport with a skilled driver will accomplish more than a wannabe with a kitted out monster on 40’s any day.

Yep.

I drove off road every day, on the job, for more than 2 decades. Mud, snow, rocks, hills and low spots.

Stock F150s, the whole time.

Used AT tires but stock sizes and nothing radical, because I also drove a lot of highway miles.

I needed the 2.0 to pull my trailer. I needed the extra clearance because all of our roads are rutted. With a couple of extra skid plates and a 1.5" lift, it does everything I need it to. The short wheel base makes a huge difference, especially when going through steep sided arroyos The narrow width allow me to go places that would seriously scrath an F-150. But I do have some NM pinstipping from mesquite bushes.

My average mileage for the first two years was 27 mph. Of course, I drive like an old man.

I have plowed snow in the middle of the road where the snow was rutted. Makes a horrible sound when the snow has refrozen. Glad to have a skid plate on my catalytic converter.

You're gonna confuse the Canadians here with words like "arroyo" and "mesquite". ?

In that vein, all the mesquite we have in Arizona are trees. We relegate bush status to creosote & the like. Sounds like NM got ripped off in the flora lottery. But then, you've got empanadas in restaurants, we're stuck with chips 'n' salsa everywhere.

Tired of chips n salsa… Good empanadas in Puerto Peñasco
Even better shrimp, or at least used to be. Used to take the train from Mexicali, have an amazing lunch, usually filet de camarones (and sangria!), and bring back a few kilos of shrimp. Also before a passport was needed. Sigh...

Wow …. How long did that train take Mexicali to Puerto Peñasco? I often see the road covered in blowing sand and sometimes those train tracks too .. and much of the time the train is pretty long and slow. I only remember seeing freight and tanker cars, don’t recall seeing passenger cars.

It took four or five Coronas, I think, maybe a couple more, each way. This was about thirty years ago the last time I did that run via train, before the resorts moved in and the Gulf was fished out.
