Technically a few months ago, but i installed a Midland MXT575 GRMS Radio in my car, Tried doing it the "temporarily permanent" style most of my work is, and hit the classic problems i create.

I drilled holes in my JCR Offroad side Molle Panels for the Midlands mount and had to use some... physical persuasion to get the radio in the mount because the curve of the glove box was stopping it from sliding down into the mount (this will be a new and exciting problem later). For cable management, I secured the wires near when my under dash lighting is and routed the cables through the door , because, one day, ill finally decide to run something properly through the firewall (btw, the cables were barely long enough for the door route, but again, its not the best wiring decision)

Mounting the exterior antenna was easy, used a simple hood mount adaptor which bolts to a preexisting bolt which was nice

Antenna installed, Midland MXTA26, ran the wire back to where my ditch light brackets are, secured it to the bracket to minimize it moving around, and routed into the cabin through the door, what a surprise.

Now, elephant in the room, the mounting location is almost perfect, but, the glove box door hits the radio barely, there is enough play in the molle panel to press in on the radio to open the glove box, so its not a complete issue, but its a minor annoyance. But if you see the scratches on the glove box from the first picture, you can guess im not immediately worried about it.

All of this was done before my friend group did a group convoy down to the Sanford Florida area to play disc golf at a bunch of courses we have never played, so it was a great time and this radio paired with the other handheld GMRS radios I have allowed us to have quick and easy communication while driving course to course, as well as handhelds on course when we split the card.

Have you considered mounting the Midland at an angle (canted to the rear) instead of vertically? That might alleviate some of your issues.

Side note, how's the fit on the Molle panel? In the pic it looks like it was made for that spot.

I'll be honest, if I didn't hate working in the foot well area because of my back, I would probably tried either lowering it to the bottom of the bracket or angling it, but I believe it will always have the contact issue with the glove box opening.

That said, the molle panel is specifically designed for the 2021-24 sport so it fits perfectly, but know that there is nothing about it's install that has an "informed position" and by that I mean, it's install is all screws with spacers so you just eyeball line it up decently, drill hole 1 and the rest fall where they fall. Love em all the same, I have a strap on each panel for securing water bottles on long drives

With wintertime coming and getting dark earlier, was reminded that I wanted to adjust the headlights up a bit.

They were close enough to say they were in spec but that harsh dark line, on low beam, is annoying.

Don't want to blind other drivers but I'm hoping that stretching that out a little further helps.

Raised the drivers side one full turn, passenger, 1.25.

Used it as a temporary playpen for my grandson....lol

Sorry, but these two photos remind me of a street vendor for some reason or another.

I can imagine the outrage of younger people seeing a child in the back of a car, even if it's parked, and reminisce to the days of our station wagon growing up with a rear seat facing out the back window and no seatbelts as my dad drove hours on the highway for vacations. I wouldn't trade growing up in the 70s-'80s for anything. 3 kids hanging out the back of the wagon and a German Shepherd sleeping in the bed.

That is one adorable baby!

The only trade would be growing up in the 50’s — Ike was in the White House and all was right with the world <lol>

I grew up in the '50s and '60s, and I remember no seatbelts, and rear facing seats in the Plymouth station wagon. My "seatbelt" was Dad's arm reaching across me as he slammed on the brakes. :D

Oh, yeah, and gas wars... paying under 25 cents/gallon for gas!

Eisenhower baby myself.

The dash in mom’s ‘63 Falcon wagon was steel, but her arm was faster than an airbag. She wasn’t worried about me, she just didn’t want me denting that dash with my skull.

Going on trips to the Sierras was me & my sister in the back of dad’s ‘55 Chevy pickup with a shell, lying on top of all the camping gear, and snacking on dry oatmeal.

Good times.

Grandpa would slide open that rear window so my brother and I could sit on the backseat hat shelf with our heads sticking up above the roof line...while grandpa would scream down the road at 100mph.

That is a beaut! Speaking of "how did we survive", my crazy uncle had one of those Subarus (I can't remember the name now) that had sort of like a pickup bed but 2 plastic seats in the back that he would slap us in and do 85 on the highway.
