To be clear, is also very annoying when walking or biking at an intersection and having to breath in the exhaust of all the vehicles without them even moving. People in vehicles aren't the only users of public ways

Though, overall, complaining about auto stop start isn't a big deal, because almost all new vehicles will be electric powered in 5 to 10 years anyway.

I disable it every single time.

Instead of worrying about whatever emissions a modern vehicle might be putting out when stopped for a minute or two, people should focus on more realistic and tangible things when it comes to the environment.

The amount of trash on the sides of highways and ramps here in Wisconsin seems to have increased significantly. This is something we could actually do something about.

Start-stop technology is not a real solution. It’s just a way to fudge the numbers.

Hybrids perhaps, I don't think most ppl will rely only on basically a golf cart to travel

damn straight! And not in 5 years. Maybe 15-30 years they could have improved electric grid systems across the united states to support the amount of electric vehicle demand at that point. Thats a hard maybe.

I push the ASS Off button every single time I got into the BS
Exactly!!! What is so hard with drivers simply doing this each time you start the engine?

Ford Bronco Sport ASS - from X 1747331175780-um

Learn to press the ASS button if you want the engine to shut off.

AND, if they make an EV in a price range where the average consumer can afford one, perhaps that 5 to 10 year estimation can be realistic.

I've read too many stories of magazine people driving a a mach e with the premium battery pack and one driving a f150 lightning, both with a maximum range of 320 miles on a full charge getting to the point of needing a charge and having a hellofa time finding a charging station. My wife and I travel to the west coast every year from Loveland Colorado and until the charging grid is such that I am guaranteed to find a station available within easy reach and recharge time is reduced to no more than 30 minutes, we will continue to drive our Big Bend that gets us easily 300+ miles to a gas station of my choice that takes me maybe 10 minutes to fill and clean the windshield. I'm too old and my heart just isn't up to take a thrill of maybe or maybe not getting to a charge station before my ride dies on the road! Thank you very much! I'm with Freiberger! Oh, and I also turn the ASS off every time I start her up.

Right.
I bought the OBD2 dongle first thing after I got my BS because I was too intimidated to try Forscan. However, if Forscan can be configured to make my BS default to Sport Mode at start up I might gather the courage to try and use it. Do you know if it can do this?

This thread is a pain in the ASS. I went the same route a year ago then jumped into FORScan recently to dump the chump of the Ford double horn honk - my results start at post 23 here:

Forscan costs too much just to change the ASS option.

My finger pressing the ass DISABLE Is cheap.

There is no requirement from EPA for Auto Start Stop. The feature is used by manufacturers to increase mpg and lower emissions.

EPA cannot do away with something that they never required.

I tried to disable it in my Badlands with Forscan but it wouldn't work. Forscan said it was disabled but it would still do it. I tried several times. I finally gave up and decided I would just hit the ASS button. Which, in retrospect, I kind of always liked hitting the ass......button, that is.
