Assuming the fleet vehicles you were using were also fleet maintained, fleet vehicles are usually better maintained than the typical everyday personal vehicle which likely added to the fleet vehicles reliability.
I had to take them in for maintenance. I'm in sales and the vehicles are 100% maintained by myself, but the maintenance is paid for by the fleet company. I would only start to think about changing the oil when the oil life went to 0% and I carried close to 300lbs of equipment in them all the time in the back. I treated them horribly.

I happen to agree that Ford is totally out of touch with reality when it comes to how their products are used in real life and the expiation that normal day to day usage does not include regular visits to the dealer to have issues address for which Ford has no actual repair. (two F-150 with electrical problems) However, we must also remember that the people who start discussions on a forum are people who are experiencing issues. People that are not having issues don't start a thread telling about how fantastic and trouble free their ride actually is.

A lot of Fords recalls are software related. Maybe get that department squared away and put out stuff that works out of the box.

Normal updates are one thing; screw ups are another.

When it comes to software nothing will ever be 100% upon release. I will admit I was relieved when I found out Ford was starting to implement over-the-air updates within the entire vehicle lineup. Then a second later I remembered over-the-air communicates both ways. So now "spyware" is a thing in our Fords. It's a double edged sword and it truly depends solely on how Ford handles that data. They could be a "good guy" or the "bad guy" it's all in their hands. As a customer you have zero control how that story ends.

I am leaning this way too. My MINI is 13 yrs old@ 125k, we traded in my wife‘s 2015 Edge @ 9 yrs and 175k ( NO issues). Her 2024 BS BL has 24k and is waiting for a new transmission.
So after 3 weeks with our BS the dealer determined we had a bad battery. Three Weeks!!!

And a bad transmission?
Sorry, it was 1am when I posted.
There speculation is the low battery threw the code for vehicle not in park, set parking brake before exiting the vehicle. There may be nothing actually wrong with the transmission.

That's because Dealerships do not put all the vehicles on the lot on trickle chargers. It's common for vehicles to be on the lot for 8 months or more and the battery to go 100% discharged on the lot. That of course it the worst thing to do to an automotive battery.

2015 Navigator purchased off lease 2017, drove 145,000km, dealer maintained , swollen nuts, replaced tires, battery, brakes , 3.5 Ecoboost, towed 31 foot Airstream. Ford dealer maintenance. Main issue was rusted rockers, 3 window motors, retractable running board motors. Traded in 2023 on Bronco.

2015 Ford Fusion Platinum we bought new now has over 200,000 km - replaced two batteries, transmission line swollen nuts, tires, brakes. Has the 2.0 ecoboost Ford Dealer maintained since new. Other than wear tear items, and the line- no issues.

2023 Bronco Sport 1.5 3 cyl, BB , Ford dealer maintained since new , now 40,000km. use it to tow tow utility trailer. No issues, except TPMS sensor changed.

Purchased both new ones with the Ford Maintenance Package and visits as per the owners manual. Im wondering how many of the issues I’m seeing on this forum are due to abuse or lack of maintenance….

Never, ever have I ever had a a failure or problem with any of my ecoboost engines or transmissions. Change the oil as per schedule and transmissio fluid even if not on the schedule after 40,000 miles

Same here. Sold my last vehicle to a good friend at 180K with no major issues (no oil additives, no trans or axle services :) ) and he's still driving it and everything works. It wasn't perfect. It was starting to rust. I had to do a water pump at 30K just after I purchased it used. That was unexpected and frustrating, but not expensive or difficult. The rest are what I would consider "normal" wear items over 17 years and almost 200K miles. I'll also add this vehicle was not from a brand known for stellar reliability, yet the vehicle served me well and I have no major complaints/regrets. Actually, I do have one small regret......selling it! It would be great to drive on sloppy/salty days common in the mid-west rust belt during the winter months.

Based on the number of issues I've seen with the Bronco Sports, I don't think I will be keeping this one nearly that long. Subject to change based on how many problems I have with it.

You didn't dodge a bullet you just loaded a much bigger new gun. Hopefully gas prices don't go back up. $80k+ and only 13mpg is too big of a hit for me to ever consider a full size. (I owned a Jeep Rubicon Unlimited and when you get caught in with a head wind the mpg dropped as low as 9 mpg.) Just a FYI there are A LOT of reported issues with the Full Size Bronco like broken sway bar links, cracked hard tops, leaking roofs, and 2.7L engine valve issues and complete failures, transmission clunkiness or hesitation, air conditioning: Intermittent failure, misaligned panels, excessive road noise, and general fit/finish concerns with the full size Bronco.

GL with the full size............
I said the same thing about fuel economy. That was one of my "excuses" for buying the BS (compared to other vehicles I own with V8s and V6s). But after purchasing it and doing the math, it takes quite a bit of fuel economy loss to make a significant difference.

Example: At 15,000 miles/year and $3/gal, it's only another $64/month or $16/week to go from 26MPG to 18MPG. Most people would scream about losing 8MPG, but I know many that spend WAY more than $16/week at Starbucks or (insert your favorite boujee coffee supplier here). :)

good thing you didn't buy a 4 cyl ecoboost. You must have owned it a very short time if you hadn't figured out what engine was in it.
You almost had me beat on timing.
