So I got a bunch of assorted recovery gear the last arrived today. No pics to share yet because I have been collecting items since October. This is a result of watching too many youtube videos and may only ever be used in winter if ever at all but better to have it and not need it.
The list:
30’ static recovery strap
30’x7/8” kinetic rope (might be too heavy)
10’ tree saver strap for a bridle
8’ tree saver strap ( because I didnt realize 10’ makes a better bridle)
5 assorted soft shackles
3=3/4” bow shackles
And a recovery shackle hitch receiver
Im working on a useful shovel that breaks down, might have to invent one.
When the weather warms up I am hoping to do something with the spare tire storage area so I can keep it all onboard

I got one of these for ice fishing… breaks down into a relatively small package, and for shoveling snow away from tires, it might be sufficient for that task.

I will have to take a look at one when Im near Bass Pro, it looks promising. It folds up good as long as its strong enough to dig under a vehicle

Had my 40,000 mile service done this morning. After deducting my FordPass points, cost me $14 — a good deal for me.
Surprisingly, there’s a lot left on the brakes (kinda’ figured they’d be ready to replace). Service said they should go another 5-10K. I sure hope he’s right!
I’d already changed the air/cabin filters (Amazon specials)myself, and tire rotation/alignment are done “free” by Costco/Firestone which saves me a bit at Ford.
The Sport is four years old now, and, has been really trouble free. She still looks good and runs great, unlike me, who’s in need of lots of work <lol>.

How do you like that hood deflector? Does it seem like it could handle a canoe strap, the raised part looks like it wouldnt interfere but just wondering how solid the front edge is against the hood.

I like it a lot but not sure I'd strap a canoe to it. You'd have to drill a hole into it and it's affixed by 3M tape so not sure I would trust it with something strapped to it.

You may want to check this post out and ask @Horse n Buggy. I've seen others post pics of canoes tied down to the two hooks and over the hood/hood deflector
I have a different brand of deflector than the one originally posted about, I run the AVS Bugflector II which I installed with the included screws instead of the option of 3M tape.

I will add that with the way I secured the Kayak and Canoe, the strap down to the front tow hooks and rear toe hitch were not significantly tensioned. For me they were to stop forward / backward movement of the boats while the major tie down tension was the ratchet straps securing the boats to the roof rack.

If boats were mounted similarly, I would not expect 3M installed hood deflectors to be a problem, the biggest benefit is not having the front tie downs making contact with the hood paint
