I don't like A/C and heat controls on a screen. Add in with Ford's reputation for recalls, this recall is not a surprise.
Right, that is a downside. Would have been perfect if they retained them underneath since there is space. Personally much prefer the redesign aesthetically though.

I just picked my sport up on Saturday, do we know what trim is affected?
Unfortunately, unlike most other recalls, owners cannot check by their VIN. They must contact Ford or a dealer:

Ford Bronco Sport Recall: Instrument Cluster Panel Display Failure (NHTSA Recall 25V788) -- 2025-2026 Bronco Sport 1763656051584-bt

You can't make this stuff up. Ridiculous. What is the number so far this year? It was 135 recalls last month.
If you own a Ford, a discounted extended Ford warranty from Flood or Granger is a must have. Even more so with the 1.5L.
The underwriter has all of the info we do, and plenty more. They are aware of all of the issues with the BS (esp the 1.5L trims) and other models. They know the average repair cost per vehicle. The extended warranties are priced accordingly.

All insurance is gambling, and the house always wins. For every winner who will tell anyone who will listen about their experience, there are plenty of losers (who generally keep quiet) -- there must be in order for the underwriter to stay in business and make a fat profit.

If having an extended warranty will reduce anxiety and help an owner sleep at night it may be worth it, but financially they are a bad deal (generally speaking).

It also comes down to the Clint Eastwood movie line. Are you feelin' lucky?
You are correct about the extended warranties are priced accordingly. An example is that a Honda warranty is much cheaper than a Ford warranty.

8yr/100 discounted warranties no deductible
'26 Passport Honda warranty $1370
'25 Bronco Sport Ford warranty $2800.

Ha! I was looking at "Do ya feel lucky" images to copy and paste, but decided that the whole .44 magnum thing was a bit much...

That's something I haven't really touched on when posting about extended warranties -- mindset. Glass half full or half empty?

Some people feel as though they generally have bad luck, so anything that can go wrong with their vehicle probably will.

Others are more optimistic.

What concerns me most is when dealers pull the, "This car is an unreliable POS. It's gonna break down and you're guaranteed to SAVE money by purchasing the warranty!" scam. They try to frighten buyers into getting a warranty that in most cases will not 'pay off.' When possible, people are better off being self-insured.

Like so much else dealership employees do, it's borderline fraud. Why not just be honest? When insurance agents sell homeowner's policies, they don't try to convince the client that their house is gonna burn down or get crushed by a tree. They do not try to pretend that the insurance is some great deal that only losers would decline. They will readily admit that the insurance probably will not pay for itself. The reason to purchase homeowner's coverage is that very few people can be self-insured (and if there is a mortgage, the lender requires it). There's no need to lie.

It says 100% of vehicles made during that time frame. Trim doesn't matter.
This. All 2025+ BS use the same IPC which means they all have the same software; the only thing different is the configuration in the vehicle to enable/disable features between the different trim levels and a la cart options a vehicle has. Every single one will need to have the IPC firmware updated to the newer version.

The easiest way to resolve this would be for Ford to send it out via OTA since the 2025+ models are capable of getting them. Once Ford releases the software, dealers can do it fairly easily and quickly. The IPC is updated with a USB drive.

Happy with the deal I got on the BL.

NO RECALLS, YET!
Ford Bronco Sport Recall: Instrument Cluster Panel Display Failure (NHTSA Recall 25V788) -- 2025-2026 Bronco Sport 1763656051584-bt

Well, the last line on this post I did a month ago when I got my used 2025 BL CPO says it all.

I'm not a prophet but I didn't think it would last.

Out of 258,980 Broncos and Bronco Sports produced (US and Canada Combined) there are only 12 reports of this happening. I'm willing to bet not one person in this forum will experience this issue. On top of that it's an easy over the air downloadable fix.
I will gladly invest in a company that's willing to admit a fault and put out a fix than a company that screams to the top of their lungs "It's NOT our fault, it's the customers fault! Warranty claim denied!". Only to be proven years later that it is their fault. Now you have to wait inline to have a complete motor replacement on a non-driveable vehicle that you are still required to make payments on! GM has 600,000+ SUVs and trucks from the 2021-2024 model years due to potential engine failure in 6.2L V8 (L87) engine.

Plan on getting 2025 Bronco Sport
Also, I think it's bazaar that they haven't even started producing 2026 Bronco Sports and won't until January, yet they are included in the recall?

And Toyota has to replace 100,000+ Tundra engines. Honda is having an engine recall. Most car manufacturers have recalls and a lot of software fixes because the cars are getting more and more complicated and run by software so it happens. Being in IT for 25 years I saw how poorly so much software is written. Can you guess why I get a new car every 3 years? Don't need an extended warranty then.

Anecdotally, my homeowner's insurance paid for itself to the tune of about seven years' premiums after I'd owned the house three months (Broken hot water line in the foundation, $7K). Then at 4-1/2 years of ownership it covered another 30 years of premiums (Roof and pool damage from a microburst-induced hail event, $36K). I figure I've got another 17 years before USAA breaks even on me. :)

But, that's why it's not really a matter of "you vs. insurance", it's joining a shared risk pool. Some of us will win (lose), while others will lose (win). Without other policyholders to help spread the risk, USAA would've likely quintupled my rates to cover themselves.
