My first “car” wasn’t; had a used ’65 Honda Super Hawk, a “rice rocket” before anyone knew the term. My first actual 4-wheel car was a used ’61 Corvair (I was the fourth owner), red with silver “racing stripes” painted on by me. My second car was, too, repaired and painted by Earl Scheib after being hit by a “hot rod Lincoln” one night.
Ah, the good ol’ days — all three vehicles together cost less than $2000.

Had a '73 TR6 for a bit. Peak shitty years for British Leyland.
Started with the TR3 then a 4,4A and finally a 73 TR6. Had it about 3 weeks and an elderly lady in a big Buick decided to drive thru the planters in our parking lot & stopped after hitting my car & turning it sideways knocking it 2 spaces down.

Then moved to an MG..whole nother story LOL! Never had problems with my Triumphs.

At least the Sunbird had rollup windows :)
The TR3 was a cool looking car though, the only Triumph I ever had was a '81 TR8. Had the Rover/Buick 3.5 liter V8.
LOL So true but the side curtains are what made the car. Not very nice in Winter though!! The TR6 was the end of my affairs with Triumph. Tried MG's & a couple Austin Healy's but just not the same.

My Chevelle Malibu SS had the dual keys - one for the ignition and another for the door. I went to school with several guys who had similar GM cars, and over time we discovered that between all of us, we could unlock and drive each other's cars. We played a semester-long game of hide and seek with the cars. Eventually it got old and we stopped moving them around. Man, those were the days!

A 1986 Fiat Uno 60S in 1987. 58 crazy horsepower from the country of Ferrari and well, Fiats. It was red, it did 91.2 mph (notably on one occasion for about 100 miles from Uni back home tucked in behind a Ford Escort doing 91.1 mph and refusing to let me by.

It had a problem towards the end of my tenure that meant I had to leave the choke out. A Uni girlfriend drove it into a deer (she was unharmed, deer scarpered) which necessitated some panel beating.

It also survived the efforts of a retired army sort who drove through road work cones in front of me (like, through the cones) and radically shortened the poor car. Two weeks of rebuilding ensued. Finished Uni and the car went elsewhere to be replaced by a Peugeot 205.

I get another go since I moved from the UK to Canada a while back. First LHD car - Golf Alltrack, followed a week or two later by a Tesla Model 3. Both of them going this week in part-ex for a Macan EV 4S.

1966. My first car was a 1955 Chevy 210 post. It started with a 3spd. stick moved to the floor with a Hurst mystery shifter, 6cyl "blue flame" that I thoughtlessly neglected to keep fluid in the radiator and blew the head gasket. Next up, a 265 v8 I bought for $50 with the assurance from the seller that it was a running motor when pulled. Well, it was, until the timing chain let go leaving a parking lot shifting between first and second! What a flaming explosion THAT was! Finally, I got a 283 shortblock bored 60 over from J&M Speed Center in Riverside, Ca! I was working at Kaiser Steel in Fontana, Ca at the time and making really good money so being 18, single and nothing else to spend my money on, the car became my project. The motor got a Duntov 30-30 cam, solid lifters, fuelie heads and dual 500 C series AFB's. The 3spd was tossed for a B&M Hydro bought used from Blairs Speed Shop in Pasadena, Ca. It was barely streetable but I drove it as a daily driver/strip racer until I got laid off. End of the fun. I had to move back in with my folks who's condition was I had to sell my love. It went fast and I cried like a baby watching it leave with its new owner. Over the many years I've been owning cars like a '65 GTO, '69 Roadrunner, '70 Riviera 455 Stage 1, '71 Mercury Comet GT 302 4spd and a '71 Maverick 302, the '55 will always be THE ONE.

1st car was a 1959 Ford Fairlane, 1963 Impala, 1965 Impala SS, 1967 Ford Fairlane GT 390 & 1969 Camaro SS 396, drag racing tickets resulted in downsizing to 73 Super beetle with a Porsche 914 engine swap. I then got the worst car I ever bought a 1975 Triumph TR7, sold within 6 months. I bought a 1963 Split Window Corvette Stingrayand stupidly sold it a year later, never got over that mistake. After that it was 2-3 year Ford leases, being a Tier 1 supplier to Ford it worked out well with discounts. My Super Beetle below was a favorite and the most trouble free car I ever owned and was the first new car I ever bought, $2,150.00 off the lot.
