There's been some discussion in another thread that has dabbled onto this topic. I wanted to keep that discussion going, so I created this thread.

Let's reminisce for a bit and remember the joy of owning that first set of wheels and the freedom that they represented.

My first car was a 1966 Chevelle Malibu SS 2-door coupe. I don't know what color it was originally, because the guy that I bought it from (in 1971) had taken it to Earl Scheib for his infamous "I'll paint any car for $29.95" special. It was teal green with white vinyl interior.

I took it off with me when I went to college, and eventually traded it in on a brand new 1976 Ford Grand Torino Sport.

1967 Impala Station Wagon, special order by a local dealer for his wife with a 327 corvette motor back in the day when dealers could do that kind on thing. It would run 120 mph all day and stomp every mustang in town. Fortunately for my mom and dad his wife didn’t like it and sold it to them and I got it a couple of years later. Unbelievable launch characteristics with all that weight over the rear axle. Great memories! A perfect mid 70’s party wagon. Saw many a concert in it.

Back in the highschool days nobody thought the 'longroofs" were cool. How wrong we were LOL!! I'd love to find a nice one.

Mom had a ā€˜67 Custom 500 wagon with the 390/C6 combo. Helluva ride.

In the early and mid 70s I had a half ton 1966 292 cubic-inch inline-six Chevy pickup and then a half-ton 1968 Chevy 10 307 V-8. Both sported a Gem Top camper shell. A very different time.
I remember my Dad getting a brand new red 1966 Chevy pickup. That was his first truck, and it was a beauty.
