I swapped my full size spare to an actual size spare and a correct wheel. I offered my full size spare to my brother in law who declined as he said he would never need it. He just calls a tow truck.

At least a full size spare is optional on the lower trims. If I have the opportunity I would always go for the spare instead of mobility kit which is worthless if the sidewall gets punctured. I think the question that should be asked is how difficult is it to add a spare tire if the option wasn't already on the BS? How difficult is it to add the necessary brackets that holds the tire and jack after the fact?

Thank you for confirming this rim/tire combo fits! I'm doing the exact same upgrade, so while the measurements were good, I just wasn't 100% sure.
Measurements confirmed, so time to bring the new combo to local tire dude for mounting, balancing, TPMS sensor install.

Another issue with the "mobility kit", from the article the OP linked to:
"As an added bit of info, the sealant in mobility kits has an expiration date. It costs about $50 to replace."
As for availability of *any* spare it sounds bad:
"Torque News turned to the online Build tool for Bronco Sport to see if it was possible to add a compact spare tire to the Big Bend, Free Wheeling, Heritage, and Outer Banks trims. Nowhere that we could find was this a feature that a shopper could add and pay more for if ordering.
We phoned a local Ford dealer, and the very helpful person in parts told me that ordering a compact spare from a prior model year is not something he has ever seen. He reports that the compact spares don't wear out(?) and he has never seen one purchased as a replacement. "
I have to say, it seems highly unlikely that a spare (compact or standard size) cannot be ordered. Contrary to what the parts guy said, of course compact spares can wear out. They can also be damaged, get stolen, or age out.
A spare may not be an option when 'building' a BS, but they should be available for purchase.

One thing the article doesn't tell you is that you get the full size spare tire on the Big Bend when you get the Black Diamond Package which also include the tow package.
