And the you have some charging places that run on diesel power for the plugs.. what happened to Biden saying there was gonna be lots of charging places all along the usa. I also think states that are complaining bout not getting enough money from gas tax because of electric cars should start charging those owners more taxes on power like they do for gas owners.

I’m wondering how much it’s going to cost to replace the battery pack in an electric vehicle. Has anyone here had to do that? Or what’s the trade in value of a car with a depleted battery? I can’t imagine it’s worth much, and how much could you sell it for privately?

While were at it, how much will the power companies raise the cost of electricity when consumption is doubled, or more, in a decade?

The American consumer is anti EV.
I'm not anti EV, but rather anti EV prices.

When they make one in a reasonable price range that an average consumer can buy, they should do much better with sales.

Apparently, AI is going to take tremendous amounts of power. So much power, that they are trying to restart 3 mile island. Nuclear power is the real solution.

I hate to admit it, but France is way ahead of the US. They get almost 70% of their power from nuclear. The new designs are extremely safe, but ironically the environmentalists fight the single cleanest power source we have.

That's what they told the public many years ago as well.

Lots of hot takes here.
Yes, USA will fall behind but that's nothing new. We will continue making cars that only other Americans will buy. Ignorance is bliss.
Personally, I am not too jazzed about EVs but for different reasons. I'd rather be on a bus or a train like when I am travelling abroad. If I am driving, I'll take gas. At least I am less likely to fall asleep at the wheel.

ā€œThe offer sounds like a scam—a new Toyota electric-powered sport-utility vehicle for about $15,000, complete with sunroof and cup holders.
But the Toyota bZ3X is real, and it is actually on sale starting at that price. There is a catch: To buy one, you have to be in China.ā€

ā€œFor an American used to a $50,000 gasoline-powered SUV as the standard family choice, the Chinese market is hardly recognizable

A majority of new vehicles sold in China are either fully electric or plug-in hybrids, and a look around the recent auto show in Shanghai showed that local makers have mostly stopped introducing new gasoline-powered models

In the U.S., the traditional combustion engine still powers about eight in 10 new vehiclesā€
If you want an electric vehicle, go buy one. Stop crying here in the Bronco Sport forum.
