Downloaded new maps today, cost me the $109 for my 21 BS, no complaint — I think this is the first one I’ve had to pay for.
Ran into a problem with the download, and called the Ford tech line. Want to give Ford their due — they were great to work with, making the troubleshooting a pleasurable experience. The Ford rep and I figured out the problem at the same moment, and the download worked fine. Doubt I’d have seen the problem (pop-up blocker) if I hadn’t been talking with the rep at that exact moment.

Are you downloading to a Windows computer or an apple computer?
Windows. I'll call the 800 number Monday.

I believe that policy has changed to only one complimentary map update. Free for downloading but $40 for the USB Free version.
This is correct, except it hasn't changed. We've owned SYNC 3 equipped cars for nearly a decade and this is the way it's always been--one free map update.

Thanks for confirmng that. This and the free trial of the SiriusXM traffic options were discussed in a recent live stream, but I've been unable to find the video again.

Are you stating one free map update per year via the download to your computer method?

I have downloaded 3 free map updates so far:

Nav Maps NA 2 23 (free: 05/17/2024)
Nav Maps NA 2 22 (free: 08/14/2023)
Nav Maps NA 2 21 (free: 10/27/2022)

Nope. One free update. You must have found a loophole. I've never gotten more than one free update (per car).

Nope no loophole.

2022 Bronco Sport Badlands with Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ (Premium Package)

At purchase Ford stated Nav Maps updates provided free for 5 years and SiriusXM Traffic Plus and Travel Link service provided free for 5 years.

See my post #13 and #14.

And other owners stated same or similar. These are for the downloaded Nav Maps (to owner provided USB Devices).

One per year.

I just downloaded and am installing now. This is my second free map update on my 23 BS OB. I downloaded the 22 update last August after I bought my BS (strangely it didn’t already have the most up to date map at that time) and now the 23 update.

I don't know. Went to the Ford site to check for updates for my 21 BL:

Ford Bronco Sport Sync Navigation Map Update NA 2 23 Now Available 1716057141480-az

Not sure why they don't offer one for free and why it's so expensive just for a download. I guess I'll leave it as is until they reroute all of the streets and change the street names.

Just call the Sync/Nav Team, +1 (833) 389-0848

Most likely you will be provided at least one free (download typically) if you ask and it gets approved

Your vehicle came with NA 1 19 installed.

The following versions were available at a no charge download.
NA 2 20
NA 2 21
NA 2 22

That is why NA 2 23 has a charge to download.

very confused about these free updates. I just called Ford Customer Service and the rep said on new 24 Bronco Sport I get 1 update within 1 year. As I previously posted in this tread I was getting 3 years of free updates with my 20 Escape and 19 Edge. I would not get the update when it came out. Instead I would wait and they would update via my home wifi when the cars were parked in my garage. Both vehicles have the Map version 22. I have not downloaded or purchased the USB to get the update.

I asked if she knew where I could find where it is written regarding free ma updates but she did not know and I can not find any mention of free map updates anywhere. I only found a comment regarding 5 years for SYNC Travel. I mentioned to the rep about some on the forum posting that they were getting 5 years of updates. Her response was that they had the 5 year subscription which may have been purchased at the time the vehicle was purchased or the dealer included the subscription. (her words, not mine). But she also said she had no information regarding previous model year vehicles so she just may not know what she is talking about.

Does anyone know where the terms of the free map updates are written so I can verify if it is 1 year or longer? I am guessing that the Ford Rep is right about it being 1 year for 24 model year. I have looked in the owners manual, the quick start guide and on the website and I can find nothing.

As far as map version 23 I will wait a couple of months to see if it updates through wifi before getting the preloaded usb.

Correction

Navigation map updates are possible through WiFi, however because of the size of the files, the download is done over time and may take days to complete. A faster method is to download map updates and use a USB flash drive to update. You can also order a pre installed version on a USB drive from Ford.

For 3 years after purchase of the vehicle, you will receive opportunities to download and update the maps. After that you will have to pay for the update. These 3 updates can be completed through WiFi or download using a USB flash drive. After 3 years, you must purchase the download and utilize a USB flash drive to update navigation maps.

You have the opportunity to receive 1 and only 1 update each calendar year.

Sync 3.4 can be updated through a connection to WiFi or using a download with a USB flash drive.

Travel is part of SiriusXM and requires a subscription.
