The styling is great. Though I wouldn't mind a little more luggage and rear seat legroom, but that would entail a major redesign. Just updating the electronics and switches a bit would go a long way with me:

I bought my first car in 1977, when I was 16. It was a 1963 Chrysler 300.
(This is a stock photo. Mine looked much worse).
383 cu engine, push-button transmission. I loved that car, but it was kind of beat up (what do you want for $300, even in 1977?). I got into 2 accidents, and eventually...
After the really cool start-up graphics, both the info system and the dash are woefully lacking. A little more pizzaz, please. Perhaps some additional virtual gauges in the dash (on the Fusion the dash gauges changes when you put it into Sport mode, which is pretty cool). An altimeter would be...
I agree. I think the backup camera is horrible. It always looks dirty or something. If I wipe it that fixes it only temporarily. If it rains it fogs up and you can see the water droplets. But they made a big deal about the washer spray but that helps only minimally. Meanwhile my wife's Subaru...
I've had the 4-cyl Badlands for about 10 months now and love it. But I notice that the engine noise, rather than being a smooth sound like most new cars, has a kind of fast clicking sound that varies with the RPMs. Much more noticeable with the hood open. My previous Ford V6 had a smooth...
My brakes never came on in the 8 months I've had the BS, but the "Collision Alert" warning light and sound came on several times. First time I was on an empty road in winter in PA. Everything was white snow and ice, but no cars, and all of a sudden ...BEEEP.BEEP.BEEP.BEEP!!! Scared the hell out...
I would say - Greater towing capacity with the 2.0 engine.
The option of ordering that engine in the BB or OB (you might want to oomph but not the off-road capabilities).
Inner wheel well storage knock-out panels in the trunk (my 08 Mercury Mariner had those - very handy).
Sync 4.

I love my BS, but yes it has fairly high wind noise. Not so much when everything's closed, but I like to drive with the windows open, and the noise and draft is much more than any other car I've owned. So is opening the sunroof either all the way, or just in vent mode. I'm sure it has something...
To answer some questions, especially the OP's, I have the opposite rig: Thule Wingbar Evo crossbars on Thule feet, and Yakima kayak assist. I already had the feet from a previous car that used 43" bars. These bars are 53" and I have no issues with the length. Not sure of the height of the Yakima...
Just an update: due to the weight of the ‘yak, just lifting it up to the arms was not easy.
I kept tightening it and then taking it down 3 times as it seemed unbalanced/loose. Eventually, adjusted the pads and bow/stern lines and it was good to go. Right now I’m 2 hours into a trip at low...
So I got the Yakima Showdown with 53” bars. I have a 58 lb 14-footer and am absolutely terrified of having done something wrong. Can someone look at my pics and either reassure me or tell me if anything looks awry? TIA

I taped a yardstick to the top of one of the crossbars, secured the hooked end of the tape measure down with a brick and unravelled the tape measure up and read the measurement to the bottom of the yardstick. So the width of the tape measure did not come into play.
