Jump on EBay, you can get the OEM Spare Wheel, jack, and lug wrench for one price. Got all 3 for my neighbor for $189 shipped. (You can also find the foam tray inserts for the driver and passenger side.)

So prompted by reading another thread about cargo mats I came to realize I have no spare tire. I want a spare tire. An air pump only helps for slow leaks. Anything else require a $150 tow and then I still have to spend $200 on a tire. Then there is just the shear inconvenience of it all. I couldn’t find all the answers I needed through search. (Not without reading for 3 days straight) So first my specs and then my questions. 2026 Bronco Sport Big Bend. 1.5” lift with optional 245 65R 17 tires.
1. What is the spare tire size? (That fits properly underneath the mat)
2. Will a spare tire even help me with the increase tire size and lift?
3. In the posted pictures, the foam under the cargo mats is held in by a plastic piece in the center. It does not appear to unscrew. Do I just yank it straight out?
4. Do they sell a replacement foam that fits along with the tire? (For a scissor jack and spade) No tire will fit with what I have under there currently.
Thanks

Yes, a full-size spare tire can fit in most 2026 Bronco Sport models, but it depends on the trim level and whether you have the factory towing package.
Storage capabilities and spare tire configurations vary slightly by model:
  • Badlands Trims: These come standard with a full-size spare tire (usually (225/65\R17)) that fits securely in the rear cargo well. If you upgrade to slightly larger (235/65\R17) tires, you can still fit the full-size spare in the well, though you may need to adjust the cargo floor to the higher setting.

  • Big Bend & Outer Banks Trims: These typically come with a compact "donut" spare, but many owners easily fit a matching full-size spare tire (up to (245/65\R17)). To do this, you may need to adjust the rear cargo floor to its highest position or remove some of the under-floor foam padding.

  • Towing Package: If your Bronco Sport is equipped with the factory tow package, the vehicle is designed to accommodate a full-size spare beneath the cargo floor.

I fit a 235 into the Badlands spare tire well with zero issue (no cargo floor adjustment). Depending on the rim, it may require flipping the rim so the outside is facing down.

OP: I sent you a DM with pix of the full-size spare I took out of my Badlands. For your reference in finding one or if you want it (you're not super far from me, if you do).

I have to decided to go with the 225 65r 17 for the spare. One question that still hasn’t been answered yet is how do I get the foam mold out. The peg holding it just spins. (repeat pic for reference)Do I just rip it out?

Yes just pull the foam out, you're not going to be using it.

I just yanked on mine. The peg stayed in place and the foam pulled over the head of it. That might have enlarged or ripped the hole in the foam a bit but I didn’t worry about that. I was just test fitting my neighbour’s doughnut (donut?) so I had to put the foam back. It didn’t easily go back over the peg head and I was in a rush so it’s just kind of sitting there on top of it for now. I’ll play with it when I have some time. Like was already mentioned, if I end up putting a spare in there I won’t be using that foam anyway.

Just an FYI, with the bronco being all wheel drive, you are going to want your overall spare tire diameter to be the same size (or as physically close to it as possible) otherwise you could develop transfer case and / or differential problems.

I think your comment was probably for the original poster, but yes I did mention in this thread that I’m looking to do the same thing as him and will probably need to find as big of a donut as the space will permit because my tires are a bit oversized in diameter over the OEM tires on my OBX (245 60 series as opposed to 225 60 series) which makes them a bit taller not just wider.

Well I would not be driving on the spare except to get to a tire shop. If my math is right a 225-65 is about a 1/2” shorter than my 245-65’s. I could bump up to a 225-70 17, assuming one exist, and that is only .08” shorter than my 245-65’s. That brings me back to will it fit? I guess I could put one of my tires in there and see what it looks like. (Width would be an issue, but At least I would have an idea) All this crap could be avoided if Ford would just put the damn spare in there from the get go. Also, I read (on this forum) that the Bronco doesn’t have a traditional transfer case.

I have the same issue. I went out and got a scissor jack, tire iron and some plugs. I could try the "slime" repair pump that came with it, but I have serious doubts about inflating a tire with the vehicle weight on it yet, so at least if I do go that route, I can jack it up first. This was fairly easy, easier than tracking down a spare, and I feel a bit safer. And as I look back, it has been a while since I've had a flat.
