So prompted by reading another thread about cargo mats I came to realize I have no spare tire. I want a spare tire. An air pump only helps for slow leaks. Anything else require a $150 tow and then I still have to spend $200 on a tire. Then there is just the shear inconvenience of it all. I couldn’t find all the answers I needed through search. (Not without reading for 3 days straight) So first my specs and then my questions. 2026 Bronco Sport Big Bend. 1.5ā€ lift with optional 245 65R 17 tires.
1. What is the spare tire size? (That fits properly underneath the mat)
2. Will a spare tire even help me with the increase tire size and lift?
3. In the posted pictures, the foam under the cargo mats is held in by a plastic piece in the center. It does not appear to unscrew. Do I just yank it straight out?
4. Do they sell a replacement foam that fits along with the tire? (For a scissor jack and spade) No tire will fit with what I have under there currently.
Thanks

For what it’s worth, when I was shopping I assumed a spare was under the grayish mat under the foam. That’s on me. Caveat Emptor!

The "full-size" spare is 225/65R17. As far as the proper foam, try finding a Badlands at a wrecking yard, that is the only trim that has always included a spare for its entire run (AFAIK).

Thanks for the reply. Do you know the mini spare tire size?

mine came with a full size Pirelli scorpion as a spare. It fits perfectly. Why use a mini?

Yes if you can find everything at a wrecking yard assuming the tub area is the same, I cant imagine them going to the expense of manufacturing different sheetmetal just to skip the spare.

I don't know that one. One of the other members would have to chime in if they've got a donut (which, TBH, I'd avoid if possible).

I ask because I am not sure I can avoid it. I am getting conflicting information on whether the full size spare fits or not.

Yeah I’ve been wanting to know the doughnut size as well cuz my 2025 Outer Banks just has the inflation kit. I test fit the doughnut from my neighbour’s Edge and it fits in the space fine with floor board flat as it should. I seem to remember someone said with a full size spare the floor board doesn’t sit in its low flat factory position.

No reason it wouldn't, given the correct foam insert. I can't imagine different stampings just for that. If you had a BB or OB with the tow package, it got a full-size spare, and all BL have them. Older BB/OB had a donut for weight & cost savings, but was changed to the inflator kit for the '25MY.

I could be wrong but I do not believe any of the broncosports came with a temporary spare AKA mini spare. I'm pretty sure the only options were either a full size spare or the inflator kit. At least that's what I came across when I was looking to purchase my vehicle. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
Edit: after checking on the Ford site, I see that the 21 to 24 models did come with a donut if they didn't have a full size spare. I guess the reason I didn't see this when I was researching was because I was looking at 2025 models which have now done away with the donut for cost & weight savings

The floor does sit at the upper position with a full size, lower position with a donut or inflation kit.

Thanks for those most recent replies I think I have found the reason for the conflicting answers. Floor must raise up for the full size spare. That is worth the trade off to me. A tire company told me there was no donut listed for the 25 and 26 and now I know that is accurate also. Thanks guys!

Ok thanks. I may want to sleep back there when I take a trip to the mountains in Canmore or Banff instead of paying $300 a night for a hotel room like I was doing with my Escape, so I’ll probably opt for the doughnut to keep the floor low. I’ll need to figure out the largest diameter doughnut I can fit in there since my tires I upgraded to are a tiny bit oversized at 245/60/18. Stock on the 2025 OBX is 225/60/18 so about 3.3% larger if memory serves me.

If you wanted to go to Canmore next week, you could finish my week for less than $300/night! Lol. (Just found it funny to see the note as I was reading through and as I realize I didn't set up my life to stay a whole week at my resort condo 😭)
