The bottom picture is the front left replacement tire from Walmart with a look at the tread. The middle pic is the rear left original tire lettering showing. The top picture is the front left replacement with the lettering showing. You can see they are exactly the same tire.

Now that we've got that settled - has anyone stuffed that tire into the spare tire space????

The 225/65-R17 Pirreli spare on mine is a tight fit in the spare tire area. I don't think there'd be enough room for a 235/65 since it's about a half inch larger in diameter. I do want to remove a wheel now and find out for sure though. Maybe a weekend project or if/when I get around to searching behind the wheel wells for the aux wiring.

We would love to hear from someone who has tried this. I believe you need to take out the carpet and may need to trim the foam blocks. People have put a 245/65 KO2 in there. I would try it on mine, but I am on the injured reserve list and unable to do that for the time being........

Again, I put a 245/65 Firestone Deatination AT2 on a “steelie” when in my ‘21 BL. I had to remove the insulation; the foam trim didn’t need trimming, but unless I dropped the air pressure (25-26 psi worked) the thing dropped in and wedged itself tight against the sheet metal . . . making it impossible to get out. With the lower pressure you can get it out, though it’s tough for an old man and I carry an air pump to reinflate to 33 psi if I need to use the spare.

Seems like atleast for the 21-24, the 235/65-17’s fit without any modifications to foam or air pressure.

I'm kind of sitting next to you. I was violently ill this week and I was puking hard enough to pull a couple ab muscles. And even my diaphram was a bit sore. Worst I've ever experienced. And getting old just sucks too.

well, I just found out 245/65 17 doesn't go into the truck, neatly....I got some new Kumho Roadventure AT52 and decided to start a 5 tire rotation.

The tire went in with 12 psi....but sticking up almost an inch. I haven't got time to investigate how much insulation I would have to remove to fit the tire in. guess I should of read in more detail. before I decided to do that, a quick search on the forum showed the 245 would fit.

and for 235's, that will fit my '22 Badlands without modification. that's what I had in there.

Do you have a MY25 now too? Post some pics of what’s happening with the tire.

no, still have the '22. I can get some pics later of the trunk to let people see what is "not fit".
Ok..finally got some pictures.

First the photo of the trunk spare tire cover with the 245/65/17 sticking up with tire well insulation left in place

tire reduce to about 12 psi to go into well like this...

then I removed the insulation liner, the spare went into well easily (still at 12 psi)

I ended putting some sound deadening mats at the bottom of the well and it fits fine with the cover goes over just like the 235/65/17. I should of try to air to proper pressure....but I didn't.

My experience is that the foam trays can be left in place, they really don’t interfere. If you fill the tire to 33psi you’ll never get it out — it wedges itself against the sides of the well and you’d need a winch to free it. It’ll work at about 20-25 psi.

thanks. yes, the foam trays went back in. so 20 psi is about max is your experience. guess I can just leave it at 12 for now. I can always carry a tire pump with me.

No kiding about needing winch to bring the tire out. as is already pretty heavy. I can see if it is wedged in at 30+ psi....I may need a engine hoist to take it out.
