Both prolly, depending, fagetaboutit, ask on next service.I have not received the recall notice from Ford. I have been checking my fordpass account but nothing there either. Does that mean mine isn't part of the recall or is Ford just slow notifying people?
Wow, I called last week to see about time to do the oil separator and brake pads if available. The Ford letter said to expect about a 1/2 day; the dealer said to plan on 5 days! I passed but admit I sniff the hood now and again to check for any oil smell.Took mine in today to have the oil separator inspected per recall (no problem) and my brake pads had also arrived. Both recalls done in under an hour.
I trashed my 3.5 Lincoln MKS engine with 18000 miles, smoked it on the highway at 70 mph . It was 1 1/2 years old , ford dropped a new engine in it . All good after that . Oil separator was the issue. This was back in 2012 / 13 . You would have thought by now they would have come up with a better material to manufacture that part .Many years ago, longer than I can remember
Inspecting well casing and steel driveshaft couplings for hairline cracks
Soak in gasoline
Remove and allow to air dry
Hairline cracks would remain "wet" and noticeable
Might work on plastic but not really sure
Think I read somewhere it was a failure between the two halves of the unit
