The cost of the windshield also depends on the options of the vehicle. Auto wipers requires a different windshield, for example. Then thereās the calibration of the cameras for the AEB system.
A lot of modern cars will try to squeeze every ounce of performance out of their engines, especially if those engines are relatively small. One way of doing this is by constantly adjusting the engine timing. With higher octane gasoline, that adjustment can stay nearer the āperformanceā range...
Itās not that the computer keep changing its mind about how many miles you have remaining, itās that your MPG change, which changes your miles to empty. When you fill your tank your miles to empty is based on the current average MPG.
As far as gallons remaining at zero: do you have a reference...
Iāve heard my rear cargo floor rattle a few times, and the center rear seatbelt rattle when the windows are down and air is moving it around, but other than that Iāve not heard anything else, IIRC.
As far as electrical sounds after shutdown, this has been discussed before. The headlights have...
1) It would be cheaper and way easier to just buy a BS that has the larger engine.
2) The engine bay is rather cramped. Iām not sure where youād put an extra turbo and itās associated plumbing.
Iām not sure this is true with most modern cars. In an effort to squeeze out as much performance as possible, Iām pretty sure that the engine ECU is constantly adjusting timing with the help of the knock sensor. If thatās true, then the ECU can figure out what octane itās dealing with shortly...
The problem with higher altitudes is not a lack of oxygen, (which is what I think you meant) itās that the atmospheric pressure is much lower. As a result the concentration of oxygen is lower. A turbo can overcome this by cramming more air into the engine, thus āconcentratingā it again for you...
Better and worse are subjective terms. Different is more appropriate. Besides, at least some of this can be attributed to supply chain issues. Should Ford just stop building cars for now?
Yep. There are several threads devoted to gas mileage with a fair number of us getting very good gas mileage, especially on longer trips with average speeds below 70.
Hereās two tests:

One shows an increase in energy consumption as octane decreases...
Itās easy to exceed the Monroney label estimated MPG. Itās also very easy to do much worse.
You see the people in the latter category everyday: racing from stop light to stop light, racing down the highway, engine idling away at long red lights or while eating lunch in their car with the AC on...
Iāll see what Iāve got.
In the meantime, just because you are burning less fuel and making less power does not necessarily mean you are gaining MPG if the fuel is not being burned efficiently. This is why retarding the timing can hurt MPG.
