How are people getting 26+MPG in a Badlands? Mostly highway driving?

I drive mostly around town, usually in ECO Mode, never over 50% throttle yet (still new) My new 25 BSBL rated 21 - 27 MPG... I drive the thing as tame as possible and I'm only averaging 18... I average 14 in my 24 GT and I drive that like a beast.

I live in Northumberland County, Virginia with only 12,000 people in the entire county. Very tranquil here and most including me can take their time. That helps a lot for me.

The area I live in is very rural, county roads with 45 mph speed limits and stop signs every 2-3 miles.

Very similar here, about 20,000, and laid back.

My own experience with the 2.0 so far is that it does better economy-wise if you get on it a bit.

I tried my usual gentle, low-rpm, below the speed limit method and mileage sucked. Like you, barely over 18 mpg.

I switched to a get-off-the-line smartly, 5 or so over the limit approach, and now I’m looking at 22-23 average. Go figure.

At least I get to hear the fake V6 growl from the B&O system.

I like the sound of this, I will certainly give it a try

I’m in the valley e/of LA; small hills, traffic, and lots of stop signs and traffic lights. My BSBL gets around 18-20 mpg depending on the street/freeway ratio no matter what mode I use or how I drive it, but get it on the open road and level ground and I get in the low 30’s — get some grades and that does drop off rapidly. Not a problem for me; I didn’t buy for economy.

That's what I was thinking, probably little more time on the freeway and it will go up, I only have 500 miles on it. Yeah both my BSBL and GT 5.0 were not chosen for fuel economy, each one serves it's intended purpose.

I wonder how much hot weather has to do with your barely over 18mpg and cooler weather with your 22-23 average. Above ~100°F - many owners report their BS 2.0L drops under 20mpg.

Thanks Robert, sharing experiences is what this forum is about !
Thanks, I am going to put a bottle and a half in next oil change to see if there is even more of a difference. The bottle says it treats 4 to 5 quarts. I actually take that as treating 4 quarts. The Badlands takes 5.5 quarts. That doesn't include the oil filter. I am planning on using the larger Wix 51516 oil filter.

The temps when I switched driving habits were pretty consistent; mostly in the mid-70’s during December. The change in mileage was pretty immediate. I can play around with it from tank to tank to see if it holds true during “winter” in the Valley.

I just bought a 2022 Badlands and had a drive of 80 miles back from Safford VW in Fredericksburg, VA where this Bronco Sport was traded in. I have been using STP Ceramic Oil Treatment in the 2018 Mustang I traded in and also in the 2024 Escape my wife drives. It instantly quieted down both engines. I got 2-3 MPG better in my Mustang and 4-5 better MPG in the Escape. Wife drives really slow and we are in Northumberland County, Virginia where the population is only 12,000 people so, really tranquil traffic. My Mustang had a button to pull up gauges that showed cylinder head temperature and after adding the Ceramic treatment, that temperature averaged 185 degrees. Before using the STP Ceramic it averaged 205 degrees. That's amazing. Anyway, I carried a bottle with me when I picked up this Bronco Sport and put it in a couple of miles after leaving the dealer. I averaged over 32 MPG coming home. I know some are going to say it's snake oil but, it sure is working for me and I wanted every Bronco Sporter to know about it.

Well I hate to admit it, but my haste and ignorance is really beginning to weigh on my mind. After reading more watching more listening to more on oil additives by multiple experts and not just testimonials from satisfied customers I think I’ve got to get a oil change and get that crap out of my motor before it does any damage. I think if I want to invest in an oil additive, I will invest in a better quality oil in the first place for proven results that’ll protect the engine in my Little sport. This is totally embarrassing.
