It’s absolutely related to the original post since the claim is this oil additive increases gas mileage and then uses the on-board fuel economy gauge as the yardstick.
The only reliable way to compute mileage is with a paper and pen (or calculator) and even then it’s not going to be dead accurate unless you can figure out a way to fill the tank to the exact same level before and after the calculation.
The dash gauge is an approximation using an algorithm...
We still have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee with that crappy ZF tranny. To Jeep’s credit, they extended the warranty on the transmission to 10 years or 100k miles. The software patches did keep ours from grenading.
it’s funny that the ZF 9 speed was in a lot of different platforms across many...
We don't need to "judge" anything. The OP stated his problem and laid out a few unpalatable options he has for dealing with them. How he got into that situation isn't really relevant when he considers his options. I too am perplexed by the antipathy directed at him.
Don't blame you with the Bronco Sport's history of issues and recalls. We generally keep cars a long time. My F150 is 9 years old, and Mrs. T's Cherokee is 12 years old this year, but I don't think we'll have the Bronco that long.
Sounds like the $8200 is the cheapest way to extricate the OP from the situation without a hit to the credit report. Even that is a gamble given the other driveline issues that year is known for.
You are correct. I went out a tried it this morning and it worked as you describe. I guess she wasn’t pressing on the brake like she thought she was. I even asked to verify she was on the brake.
