I didn't notice a difference immediately but took a trip on the interstate last week and my gas mileage went up like 5 mpg!
Would that be related also???!
I have been SO disappointed in my gas mileage.
On hwy I have been getting about 24 mpg and interstate is about 19! Horrible- husband says it's bc of the 3 cylinder. Can't keep up with the speed/rpm shift.....

But since the update at dealership I got up to 29 on interstate.........and I reset and checked 3 x

Back home on hwy it was still about 24 or so

I. Am. Thrilled.
I reset one of my trip meters to track any of the changes post the update, however prior to the update I was averaging about 7.7L/100km (30mpg) in real life. Mostly highway commuting into the city. Can't say I've had any complaints! Mostly leave the GOAT mode in 'Normal'.

I definitely noticed a change! I had mobile service come to my work to fix the recall and when I left to go home I noticed my BB just felt like it is driving better. It accelerated better, shifted smoother and the steering felt tighter (weird, I know). I thought it was just imagining it but apparently others are noticing a difference as well. Hey, I'll take it that's for sure.

Has anyone noticed a change in engine performance after the above recall was completed on your BS? I have notice an immediate increase in acceleration and torque while driving home from the dealership. It was like driving a different vehicle. I only have 2783 miles on my Badlands. I noticed this on my 2014 F150 FX4 when the dealer manually adjusted the settings for the transmission due to hard shifting issues. It also hard more acceleration as well as a lot more torque. Just curious.

Even after the relearn cycle, mine has been downshifting rough. I have another oil change coming up and will discuss it with the dealership. It definitely wasn't doing this before.
Hello,
I have had similar problems since the recall was done, I bought a Heritage edition in January and had noticed some acceleration issues about 2 months ago. Last week it definitely wasn't accelerating at all, so thats when I noticed the recall and I went ahead and scheduled it the very next day at the dealer. So when I picked it up all seemed well until I was parked for about 10 minutes, I felt a jerk in the bronco, like there was a click trying to pass thru but it didn't. So on my way back to take it back to the dealer I felt it didn't quite accelerate as before. The dealer said it was normal and that it was in relearn mode. After I left the dealership, the bronco began to jerk at the stops, as well as the AC completely stopped working, mind you I live in Southern California and it was 120f that day, so 10 minutes in that car felt like 10 minutes in hell. So when I get back to the dealer, it was Wednesday, July 3rd and they told me all the mechanics had left, and that the rental company had already closed. So I left the dealership totally feeling like a failure, without being able to use the bronco all July 4th, mind you he said to return on Friday July 6th in the morning as so I did. So on Friday I returned and they gave me a rental and said they would be taking a look at it to fix the ac or any other problem it had. I called yesterday, July 10th and they told me they had ordered a part (a switch) that was not working for the AC. They called me about an hour later saying that the bronco was ready. So I picked it up yesterday afternoon and as soon as I left the dealer the acceleration felt the same, lagging or simply not accelerating. I ran it about 20 miles because I knew they would come up with the same excuse that it was in relearn mode and that I had to test it out for a while. After half hour and 20 miles it felt the same so I returned to the dealer and told them the problem. They sent a mechanic to test drive it for me to show them the problem, he sent he kinda felt it but that he had never driven a bronco sport before. So we get back to the dealer and they gave me another rental, I called about an hour ago and they said they are checking it out but that its difficult to know the problem since the computer is not registering any codes, nor the dashboard is giving any lights. To be honest I am beyond frustrated and seriously considering trading it in for a different make, Ford is useless and made very cheap.

Regarding the reported positive effects of the recall -- like increased power/acceleration/mpg -- one possibility is that it is natural to want to believe we're getting 'something for nothing.'

Once one person mentions a positive side effect, others anticipate the same, and it snowballs.

Power of suggestion.

I just bought my badlands which has the 2.0 L engine. You don't say which engine your BS has but I know the transmission is the same. I have not had the recall done yet and even when new with transmission learning I never experienced anything that you are talking about. Being that the only thing that changed was a software update maybe have the dealer start by updating the transmission software again. Maybe something in the update from the recall didn't load properly. Maybe the transmission in learning mode would be a little rough shifting at first but I would think that would be it. Also updating the software again would be the easiest thing to do as far as diagnosing the issue. If that doesn't fix the issue then they can dig deeper. It's better than them having the Bronco sitting at the dealer and they do not have a clue. Also since this happened after the recall which is a software update from Ford the dealer should be talking to the Ford engineers so they know what happened after the update and they could have additional ideas to guide the dealer on what to check.

Yes. I have noticed the difference also. I was still having a pry with transmission shuttering after a torque converter replacement. That has improved since the update. Not totally gone but much better. Love my Bronco again!

Anything that seems like a transmission shudder? Several had that happen after recall 24S24.
Thought you might find this work order interesting after bringing it in for the sudden onset of shuddering and rough shifting. Atleast I know I’m not crazy lol. Whether it’s related to the recall I Cannot say and am weary to have a strong opinion on it. But interesting none the less

A few questions for you …

1. The work order shows "Transmission TRID Strategy RELEARN" and shows Recall 24S24 was performed. Do you know in which order these were done and if the transmission issue you experienced occurred only after 24s24 was perform? Reason I ask is partially because I thought you had recall 24s24 completed before today 12 July 2024? So am just confused abit and the work listed in the pic you posted.

2. The 24s24 procedure includes a transmission controller reset which causes the transmission to enter its relearn cycle. Do you know if the "Transmission TRID Strategy RELEARN" is the same exact relearn caused by running the 24s24 procedure with its transmission controller reset ?

3. Do you know what “TRID” means in the work order that shows "Transmission TRID Strategy RELEARN"?

Yeah I’m glad you brought that up. I get the call today that my bronco was ready to be picked up and that the tech “recalibrated the transmission and performed a recall that my vehicle was due”. I than ask is that the same recall that the mobile technician did last week? And he says “let me check,,,yes” and nothing else was said about it. Very confusing to me but because I know so little I just chalk it up to “I’ll trust the process” lol
I wish I could answer your other questions. I’m unsure what order he did it or if the relearn on the work order is technically the same as the relearn that s42s4 does anyways.

Google says that TRID might be Transmission ID which is needed for the relearn but I’m not Ford 8F35 transmission expert so IDK.

And the way I read your work order is… after the "Transmission TRID Strategy RELEARN" was completed, the Tech started Recall 24S24 and found was not needed (because you had already had it done awhile ago) but that’s a 100% guess on how I read the work order.

We may never know.

Nope no difference at all as far as I could tell. It's got plenty of pep, especially in Sport mode.

I noticed immediately after the 24s24 recal, the trans shifted much smoother than it did just prior. However, after a few weeks since, it has reverted back to the way it was, for the most part. Gas mileage has remained the same, again for the most part, 26-28 mpg. I'm more concerned with the battery charge consistency. My battery is nearing 3 years old. With summer weather in full swing now, we're using the ac alot! All I can say is, so far so good.

30 mpg! Wow!!!
Leaving for vacation on Saturday to the West Coast about 4800km (3000mile) round trip with some light towing. I'm going to track the overall mileage for the trip and will check in when I'm back.

Okay Cheryl and everyone, here is the post trip update and a picture of the kit we were carrying for reference.

Here are the stats with some real life costs thrown in for good measure, apologies to our US friends for inaccurate conversions but tried my best.

Trip - Winnipeg, Manitoba to Sunshine Cost of British Columbia (Sechelt)

Total Trip 5152.3 km = 3201.5 miles
Fuel used 422.609 Litres = 111.6415 US Gallons
Towing distance 480km = 298.25 miles (trailer weight 1095lbs and approx 350lbs gear on board)
calculated fuel consumption 8.202 L/100km = 28.677 US MPG and 34.439 Imp MPG
Average fuel cost of $1.661 per litre = $0.136/km or $4.54 per US Gallon = $0.158 per mile

I am eager to see if the daily mileage will improve or stay about the same as before once all the gear is out of the BB.

Amazing trip, Amazing trailer, thanks to @droplet_trailer, Pascal and his team! We will be looking to purchase in the very near future! And one picture that does the trip some justice, just for inspiration.

Cheers all!
