Plan on getting 2025 Bronco Sport
First recall on my '25 BSBB

If I have automatic OTA updates enabled, will it automatically update?

The text from the recall seems to imply I still have to schedule then the OTA update is performed.
Diddo!! I just got my notice on the app and was wondering the same thing? I have my update ser for any day at 1AM but like you said, it says i need to set it to a specific day and time..

Well, they added the recall to OASIS. It is starting to show up on VINs. Seems like I was wrong and the update may be ready (or close to being ready) to roll out already.

Ford Bronco Sport Recall: Instrument Cluster Panel Display Failure (NHTSA Recall 25V788) -- 2025-2026 Bronco Sport 1764171460134-se

Dealer bulletin calls for updating the IPC (no surprise there). It also mentions to technicians to update the GWM, APIM and TCU if an IPC update is not showing in order to get the IPC update to release. Standard procedure when it comes to these things.

So in order for this to be satisfied with an OTA, it means the other Sync related modules (GWM, APIM & TCU) must be up to date. Otherwise, an OTA would need to be sent to those modules first before the IPC can be updated.

Case in point: Below is a screenshot of the OTA dashboard from a random 2025 BS at a dealer here in Miami. This truck has a pending GWM update. This update would need to be installed before the IPC can be updated. It is possible (and likely) that after the GWM installs, an APIM and TCU update would also need to be installed before the IPC update will pop up and the recall can be satisfied.

Since the OTA process is new to a lot of you: There is no way for an owner to force an OTA to be sent to your vehicle. Updates to the modules mentioned above will happen while the vehicle is on and running; this is not an update you will need to schedule. Yes, have auto-updates turned on, but this does not mean you can just check for updates and it will pop up for you to install it. The OTA will come, but there is no way to know when.

I would recommend you do check for updates now. If the vehicle gets stuck on the screen checking for updates with the spinning pinwheel, you will need to disconnect the negative cable from your 12v battery for 20 minutes to force a hard reset of the module network. After this is done, check for updates again and it will make it past the spinning pinwheel screen. If the vehicle makes it past the pinwheel and says no updates are available, then no further action is needed other than to wait for the OTA gods to sned you the update.

Well, looks like mine is part if the recall as it is showing up on my app. I have set my updates to any day at 1AM, so guess next time I drive my Sport I'll check to see if it's been updated with the recall.

I tired to log into my Ford account to check on the status of the recall SW update, and I get stuck in an endless loop of signing in, going to my dashboard, accepting new terms and conditions, and having to sign in again.

Sure doesn't instill confidence Ford can sucessfully push a SW update OTA to my vehicle.

Anyone else get the OTA update pushed to their vehicle?

If you have an iPhone make sure you download Ford App v6.3.0

I was trying to login to the website.

The app now says schedule with your dealer.

Called Ford dealership 12/1 and scheduled on site software update 10:00 AM. 12/3 10:05 AM Ford tech at the driveway. The update was completed at 10:33 AM, no other modules required updates.

I called the dealer I bought my BS from and they said we don't have the parts. I said the app says it's a software update and he was like, oh, I'll have to call you back when I get more info.

Edit: They just called me. Told me I need to drop it off, if the update fails it will take 5 hours so they need that much time "Just in case".

Apparently, there have been 12 cases of instrument cluster failure in all of the vehicles potentially affected so personally I’m not gonna go out of my way to see that this recall is done for my vehicle. I think I’ll let a bunch oaccumulate and then take it in. Lol.

Yes - I agree. I was just going to wait until I am at the dealer anyway for something else - or see if the OTA update ever goes through...
