I hope this is the right section:

Ford dealership priced me out at $1200 ish for a Ford brand trailer hitch and installation. No wiring harness. Sounds ridiculous if you ask me. How much is it supposed to cost?

On a bit of a time crunch since my bronco is sitting at the dealership now…

Seems pricey but if you need it immediately, and it's at the dealer... If you do it yourself, or have a third party add a hitch, i believe you will need to trim the bumper (more on that below). I'm not sure if a Ford dealer would need to do that on a hitch not originally installed from the factory but you might ask if you're having them do the work.

There are a few threads about non-factory trailer hitches... here's one. https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/best-non-straight-from-the-factory-hitch.9489/

You could buy the one from etrailer.com and DIY for under $300.

The factory wiring harness however is a different matter.

I got the Curt (CMF13474) at U-Haul.com for $200 and installed it myself. No big deal and no cutting at all. The included detailed instructions were all I needed.
Works great.

Good one. I’m not positive but, if the OP is not confident in tackling a DIY project of this nature, I think U-Haul may do installations. A buddy of mine had a hitch installed by them many years ago… don’t know if that’s still a thing for them but worth a phone call

Hey guys thanks for the help. I’ll look into doing it myself.

It’s confusing that the Ford Rewards website lists a bronco sport specific trailer hitch for $275 with an included installation for $240 but then the dealership tries to sell me on a $475 hitch and $700+ for installation

All this and a $600 rack just so I can take my mountain bike on a road trip ?

Yup, even ADM on hitches installations. I’ve added them to my vehicles over the years and it’s relatively easy. Worse part can be fishing the bolts through the subframe but they normally supply the specialized fishing wire.

Probably cheaper to get a roof rack for it if you aren't concerned about height.

I do believe they are trying to pull one over on you, I called my local ford and they quoted ~450 200 for hitch 240 or 250 for labor (I don't remember the exact number, this was about 2 months ago)

Yeah I was hoping to avoid a roof rack for several reasons. But it’s worth reconsidering

Essentially what they told me is that any pricing on the ford website or FordPass rewards is subject to dealership participation. And that they flat rate labor costs to 1 hour automatically which hurts the dealership.

Whatever, I called Off-road Warehouse and they made me a much better offer. Thanks for all help! I’ll update when it’s done

I would look an aftermarket hitch, just make sure it's hidden behind the bumper and doesn't hang to low. Restricts the ground clearance and look crappy if you see the whole hitch below the bumper. JMO

In a similar situation recently, as my '21 did not come with an OEM hitch installed and I wasn't confident to do it DIY.

Advisors at the local Ford dealer did me a favor and wouldn't even quote me on the cost of a dealer install, likely due to the steep amount you were quoted. I shopped around and found a local shop that installed a Curt hitch and wiring harness for $675, parts and labor, all in.

Expect the labor rates to differ by state, but just a ballpark of what I paid in the NM area.

I bought a curt hitch from e-trailer and installed myself, was not easy to do it alone but I got it done. Costed me the price of the hitch and thats it. so like $250 (no wiring because I don't ever plan on towing anything that will require it)

I just had U-haul install a trailer hitch on mine. It was under $300 with no wiring. They used the Curt trailer hitch which seems to be industry standard. If you have Ford Points, you can get the Ford wiring harness and do it yourself.
