Can somebody help me out with this?
Out of know where every-time I try to plug in my iPhone 15 pro max to my car via USB-C to USB-C I get this message and my Apple CarPlay won’t work.
It had been working ever since I got the phone in October and out of nowhere recently it stopped. When I plug it in, it doesn’t even charge my phone anymore. I reset the system in Sync and its still not working. Any solutions?

I also have a 15 Pro Max, but I’m not having any issues. Which version of iOS are you using? Is the software on your BS up to date?

I get that message on occasion. I've seen it just as I am turning the engine off, even though I don't any other USB devices plugged in. other than my Samsung Android phone.

FWIW I had a similar issue using a MP3-filled USB stick on my 2012 F-150. Worked great forever and then, no. Reformatted the stick, still no. Changed to a different stick of the same capacity and it worked fine. The only thing I could come up with was that Sync registered the device ID and when it decided it didn't like it refused to change its mind.

I, too, would have expected a Sync reset would fix it. Maybe unpair the phone if you registered it via BT...?

Fingers crossed that it turns out to be a simple thing. Hope it isn't what happened to me b/c if registering a device ID actually is a thing, then even resetting your phone (which no one wants or likes to do) wouldn't work.

Again, FWIW.

And again, fingers crossed.... Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

You could try using a different USB-C to USB-C cable.
You could also try using a cable for USB-C (phone) to USB-A port on the car side. Maybe the USB-C port in the car is faulty.

What build of Sync 3.4 do you have installed?

What brand of USB-C to USB-C cable are you using?

What version of SYNC is your BS running? It should be 23188. You could also try switching cables. Cheers! Nevermind, double post.

I know (been on forums for over 20 years). I could have deleted it or reported it (although reporting never seems to work). Cheers!

In my experience with SYNC 3 (four different vehicles over nearly a decade), if a master reset doesn't fix the issue then the problem lies with your device or the data cable. I would try a few different data cables before doing anything else (easiest fix first!).

I'm not familiar with IOS configuration options, but Android allows you to configure how your phone will appear to other devices when connected via USB; I would check those settings on your phone. Also, I would clear the app cache for Apple CarPlay. Again, I don't know how to do that with IOS, but I'm sure you can find something on Google.

With Android, my normal troubleshoot/repair sequence is:
  1. Replace data cable. Use the cable that came with the phone or a good quality replacement. Make sure the cable has connections for both charging and data.
  2. Delete phone from SYNC's device list.
  3. Delete SYNC from phone's Bluetooth device list.
  4. If problem persists after reconnecting the devices via Bluetooth then continue.
  5. SYNC master reset.
  6. Delete SYNC from phone's Bluetooth device list.
  7. Clear storage and cache for Android Auto.
  8. Restart phone.
  9. Reconnect phone with a known good cable and let Android Auto configure the Bluetooth connection automatically.
This has never failed to fix any SYNC issues we've had.
