Just saw this via Ford site. If vehicle happens to be in for service around that time, does dealership normally take care of update while vehicle is there? Or should I just plan to download at home later?

Thank you for posting the info. You can request the dealership to install navigation update, some dealerships may do this at no cost. It’s also very easy to install yourself using your own USB Device, Ford’s instructions are easy to follow.

I wish it were easy. My map update keeps giving an error message about 1/2 way through. I’ve given up. The Ford nav is awful anyway.

What build of Sync 3.4 are you running?

I use both Apple Maps through CarPlay and Ford in car maps. Both are very good. The current version of the Ford nav maps is one of the best in car systems I have used.

Ford has a history of releasing Map updates and Sync updates close to each other.

This may indicate a new build of Sync is close to being released.

Sure … some areas of the country do not have cell service but often Ford Nav works fine in those areas.

Both Apple and Google offer ways to download maps so that you can use either in areas where there is no cell signal. That does require planning ahead but if you are in a part of the country you should be prepared. Not always possible in emergency type situations and sometimes people have to learn the hard way.

I had to deliver something once a few years back. Google and Apple kept sending me to a different part of town (small town). I tried my Accord's navigation and it found the correct address.

I don't know if I'd pay for built in nav but I would pay for 360+ and it's included. It helps with situations like this or where there's no cellular service.

Does Ford still have a period of time where map updates are free when you buy a new vehicle? They did when I purchased my Escape and Edge but that has been a couple of years ago.

I was told free Nav for 5 years but that might be because of 360+ (including SiriusXM travel and traffic)
