I think it is somewhat of a safety issue. The tire inflator cannot be used in all flat tire situations such as a puncture in the sidewall. This is one item that at the very least where a mini spare should be offered as a stand alone option and something that can be purchased from Ford as an OEM after market with the Dealer installing the spare an option.
You have to do your homework and do a thorough walk around of the vehicle you are about to purchase before you drive off the lot these days.

Can't assume anything is "standard" equipment anymore.

True.

With all of the 'decontenting' going on, and promo material and photos not always updated to reflect the deleted options and features, a personal inspection with a checklist is a very good idea.

Without specific knowledge (from places like this forum) even a visual inspection may not be enough. For example, the tow package deletes the rear tow eye attachment point -- but the small square cutout is still there. Unless you pop open the cover and look with a flashlight, or attempt to thread in a tow eye, you won't know.

Of course, that is not decontenting as much as it is something required by the installation of the tow hitch.

A better example of decontenting (with our '22 BL anyway) was the folding rear headrests. They were shown in at least some promo photos. In addition, the '21 model had them. So there was no reason to suspect they would be replaced with fixed headrests -- but they were.

There are lists of decontented features elsewhere here on the forum.

40 years ago, in a weak moment, I was going to buy a new Chevy truck. They didn't come with a spare, and that killed the deal for me.

Once you rip a sidewall in the middle of nowhere, you'll never go without a spare. After that, I wanted to have two spares.

I broke a trailer axle up in the mountains, and couldn't find a tow truck that would come and get it. A friend had a trailer big enough to hold
mine. Using some viga ends, some plywood, and a couple of come-a-longs we pulled it up and towed it home.

I have been through this with my Mustang and the Bronco Sport. I bought a mini spare, jack kit, and hold down on eBay for a reasonable price and it all fit great. Allow me a little time and I'll gather the details for your shopping list.
Thanks for the info! How did you remove the foam and hold-down bolt for the tire inflation kit?

The foam and insulation just pull out. I turned the spare upside down to utilize the space for storage. I have to pull the spare to check the tire pressure, but I carry a compressor when I'm out in the woods, so I'm not worried about a low pressure spare.

I got a shorter bolt with a big washer to hold the spare in place. I shortened my Hi-Lift jack and took the base off, to make it fit. With a Lift Mate, you're lifting the wheel, so don't need as much height on the jack.

I carry a tow rope, jumper cables, tool kit, flares, flat repair kit, and a few other items.

The black nylon rivet/bolt in the middle of the pic, pry it up or cut the head off. Or you could just grab the whole thing and rip it out. The rivet goes where the hold down bolt goes, so try not to damage that metal standoff. Leave the felt mat.

Thanks! You're right, the foam and bolt pull right out.

Thanks! I pulled the foam up and out, and then was able to remove the bolt easily.

Many BS owners replace the OE wheels and tires. That might be another option -- although if a person has a set of 4 they probably want to sell them as a set.

As for the fit, IDK but I'd guess that the spare storage area is the same across all BS trims. Our BL has plenty of room for the full size spare. In fact, there's enough space to store a thick 30 foot recovery rope.
What size tire you have as your full size spare. I put 245/65/17 tires on after we bought the car and I'm about to buy new ones, debating if I keep the old Pirelli full size (225/65/17) or keep one of the 4 and use it as the spare, but since its slightly larger i'm not sure it will fit flush, it seems pretty tight. I also have the tow package so that might be part of it as well.

As I posted elsewhere (what did you do today . . . I think); 245/65 will fit as spare with several caveats re padding and tire pressure in the spare — it’s really tight!

The spare in our Badlands is identical to the other tires:

Just purchased a 2025 Ford Bronco Sport Big Bend. Was shocked to find out afterward that there is no spare tire or jack.
Instead, it came with a tire inflation kit. Is it possible to get a spare tire and jack that can be secured in the trunk area ?
hot damn, no spare?!?

If you are doing any off roading, I would suggest getting a full size spare. That would be on the same wheel and tire you currently use. If you are only doing highway miles, you can get away with a smaller spare but honestly, I don't think it's worth the risk. Plus, it's not much more money. I'd check out discount tire.
