Without having ambient lights installed, there would be no wires to tap into. The cubby light has 3 wires, ground, positive and a data (I think the 3rd wire acts like a potentiometer, reduces or increases voltage?) anyhow the light will work with just a ground and a 12v line, it just won't go from bright to dim. Now having said all that, I wouldn't bother even on the brightest light you can hardly tell it's on.Which wires do you need to splice into to light those up? I have the lamps installed, but my badlands did not come with ANY ambient lighting wiring....I need figure out which wires to tap into.
To light up my cubby I used this.

I ended up cutting it down to just one of the cuttable sections, just around an inch, sticking it to the top of the cubby and it lights the whole area up nicely, I cannot see the strip light from my driving position and there is no reflection of the led in my phone screen when it's on charge, it's just a nice glow, doesn't match the cup holder lights perfectly but it's close enough.
I positioned the led about 1/4" down and centre from the front of the under panel, I also warmed the end of the cable up and bent the wires coming off the led strip towards the USB plug.
