Part of headlight staying on

I know this is an old thread but I recently bought a First Edition. I noticed the DRLs stay lit long after the lights went out (set to 120 seconds).

After seeing this post it set the delay to 20 seconds and everything turned off as it should. It seems my issue is on the longer delay. I have 6 weeks remaining on the basic warranty so I'm debating if I should bother having it looked at.

Are you stating that setting the delay to 20 seconds the lights turn off at 20 seconds but setting the delay to 120 seconds the lights will not turn off even after much longer than 120 seconds?

if it’s that easy to replicate you can show the dealership but if intermittent it might be difficult for the dealership to diagnose the issue.

Be sure that all doors including rear hatch are fully closed (others reported a door left open and DRLs stay on).

and are the DRLs staying on more than 10 minutes? (when you have the headlamp 120 second timeout selected)

and if it is repeatable you can have the dealership diagnose.

Same issue. Doors are closed/locked, changed the values in settings, they still remain on 8-10 minutes

Been dealing with this for a year. Randomly decides to keep the running headlights on. So I have to unlock and then re-lock it again to get them to go off. I'm used to double checking to see if the running headlights are off EVERY time I leave the car. Dealer "could not replicate" the issue so didn't fix the issue. No big deal really, just a pain to have to always check on this quirk instead of locking and leaving your car like any other car I've ever had, ha

I think the part is relatively cheap and seems to have been redesigned to correct the issue

There is a TSB or SSM on the issue but I can’t recall what it is. The only similar SSM I have is this one (not saying is applicable to your post it’s just one I recall):

The headlamp module applies to this instrument panel switch and is often difficult for a dealership to diagnose as the problem (because owners have reported the issue cannot be replicated every time):

Speaking as a software guy, I would try changing the timeout for the lights to a new value. You can always change it back, I just worry that it was never set and may be picking up random values.

It's not a time-out issue, I think it has something to do with the switch its self. I have the same issue and have run the gamut of free things to do. I was hoping someone else with the same issue tried swapping out the switch b4 I pony-up$80 or so bucks

Can you please be more specific to explain what you mean by “ been there, done that, no resolve “?

For example, in my earlier post where owners replaced the headlamp module (which solved the issue of their lights remaining on past 10 minutes), did you as well have the headlamp module replaced?

Or were you referring to something else you tried but did not resolve the issue?

I had the same issue last night.

Same issue with my 21 BB... annoying and prolly expensive to repair if not under warrantee. I just send it

How do you guys lock your door? When I first got the car I used the fob to lock up and they stayed on sometimes like you mention. It stopped after a few weeks, I thought on it’s own. Thinking back now I had started to use the lock button on the inside door panel usually , or the touch sensor on the outside door handle, and the running lights stay on about 15 seconds after the headlights turn off. I never use the fob anymore.

If you wait until the lights turn off themselves, then lock the vehicle it will work. I have been dealing with this for years, even after having the "fix" done. Alternatively, you can lock the car with the fob, then unlock it to flash the DRLs, then lock it back and they will stay off.
