Interesting.
I had no clue a dealer could or, errrrrr....would, offer an extended warranty on a vehicle (at no itemized extra cost, no less), and that it could be utlilized at any dealer nationwide. Learning something new every day. I've been going to absolutely the wrong dealerships. ?
There’s no way it’s offered beyond that dealer or outside the network if that dealers dealerships.

Ok. So its just the "chain of dealerships" under the same owner. Now that makes better sense. You were the first one to point me on to this exit ramp. It was seeming to me that it was literally ANY Ford dealer.

I mean, I COULDN'T IMAGINE trying to go to some of the local sh!t dealerships around here with a Ford you purchased at Scenic or Bommarito and get good warranty work done for free. But, I've been surprised by less...soooooo...

It actually is. I purchased a car from Bommarito (the wife's 2014 Escape) and Bommarito pays for covered powertrain repair costs completed by any Ford dealer. Obviously, during the Ford warranty period you have to use a dealership; Bommarito's coverage begins when Ford's warranty runs out.

Well I’m skeptical too but it’s right there on the dealership website stating “any licensed repair facility”.

Post #42 shows the full marketing “brochure” and is exactly as shown on the dealerships website

I’m think there is some fine print we haven’t seen.

This makes sense then as they are paying the bill to the repair facility. As long as they are quick to respond to the dealer after the estimate is submitted it’s an awesome perk from buying a car through them.

Do you feel the vehicle purchase was a good deal similar to what you could have made at other dealerships that do not include the added warranty coverage that Bommarito’s provided?

This was in the early days of "internet sales," and we worked with the dealership's dedicated internet sales guy. We had test driven a few cars, and the wife knew what she wanted. I put out a request at Edmunds.com for a quote on an Escape Platinum (the wife's a princess) in a specific color (if you ask my wife what kind of car she drives she'll say "blue"), and I received replies from several dealerships in the area (I think there were around five at the time). Bommarito's was by far the lowest; right at invoice as I recall. I called and talked to the guy, told him I liked the price, and we met the following weekend. He had the car and all the paperwork ready to go when we arrived. We were out the door with a new car in under an hour. Totally painless. The only reason we didn't buy the last car from them is because another dealership beat their price.

tbh, I’m surprised you find this surprising. Keep in mind we are talking about a non-transferable power-train warranty. Every dealership offer these in our town for free but to almost all they are quite worthless, unless you keep a car for lifetime or 200,000 miles, which I’m pretty sure they assume very few ever do, and you continue paying for all your repairs that are not powertrain. It’s been a sales gimmick for about 50 years here in central Illinois.

20k miles on my '21 Badlands. I replaced Manual Park Release Cable cause of noise. Some times rear brakes moan on backup. But other then that its been great. Heard of some higher miles then mine trans blows up ect. But there are large numbers of sports out there problem free. And lemons too which is unfortunate given these are expensive vehicles even the lower trims are spendy these days. What makes it worse is majority of Ford dealers are absolutely horrible dealer service.

I got a limited lifetime powertrain warranty from the dealer I bought my Maverick from as well. I paid MSRP for the vehicle and I think a $500 doc fee. The other dealers in the area have same doc fees. Had I known the dealer I bought my Maverick from offered this warranty I would have bought my BS from them as well. And like the other posters, I can go to any Ford dealer for service. I will have to check if I can go to any licensed repair facility.

I dont see it as a gimmick given the standard power train warranty from Ford. While I won’t keep the vehicle for a lifetime, I will most likely keep it beyond the factory warranty. If I have a power train issue after that, it won’t feel like a gimmick.

After reading through some of these threads, a dealership may not offer them much longer...

Amen. I've never paid for an extended warranty in my life, and its worked out okay for me thus far.

The only extended warranty I ever bought was on my 2016 Jeep Patriot that I traded in on my 22 BSBB. Only reason I bought it was if I didn't use it in the 5 yrs I got back all my $$ ($1600). It was directly thru Mopar. Well, being a Jeep, I never used it in the 5 yrs and 55,000 miles under the warranty and did indeed get all my $1600 back. Doubt Ford will ever do that.

That dealer sounds like the problem A turbo goes at the dealer??? Come one now. Who would let a dealer test drive a vehicle for 1500 miles?? You have too much patience putting up with that incompetence, get a new one.
Yes they put the new engine in at 57k and I got it back with 58,700 somthing. I told them I wanted no issues. After each test drive they found a new problem so they had to replace parts after the new engine and they said a week amd three later I told them just make sure it's 100 percent. They put 1500 miles on it and gave me a full report on it
