Hate the dial shifter

As for putting it in park, I like the quick spin properties. One quick twist, and I’m done.

One nice feature is that if the BS is not in Park when you stop, it will automatically engage Park when you turn it off. This is especially nice when combined with auto brake hold.

I don't you, I can't stand the thing either. I can't remember how many times I shifted wrong.

Im worried it shifts too easily with just a twist, Im waiting to take out the transmission.

its electronic shift, so you can wail on it as your flying down the highway it won't shift to reverse untill certian conditions are met.

it took me a bit to get used to, coming from standards and colume shifters, I don't love it but I don't hate it. some times I think it is awsome, when my shoulder is acting up, but once I got used to it it is perfectly fine.

I dislike automatics anyway, but the rotary shifter knob is one of the main reasons I traded my Sport in for the big Bronco with a proper 6-speed manual. On the plus side, though, the Bronco Sport setup functionally worked fine.

I had my phone plug in and when the phone fell to the floor, the cord caught the dial, making the dial spin.

Yep. However, I recall that my dad told me not to rest my hand on the floor gear knob as it would "stress the linkages" on the 4-speed manual in my 66 Chevy 10 half-ton. Not sure if there was any truth to that.

I’d say no truth to that. I did have the shifter fail on a Mustang at one time in the ‘70’s but that was due to a design defect, not resting my hand on it. They are designed to be pushed and pulled all the time. Resting your hand on it shouldn’t stress the linkage.

This is an n=1, but I've had to make a couple 3 point turns in normal suburban driving and probably a handful on steep/narrow off-road 3++ turn arounds due to fallen burned trees across the trail. Never had a problem and I think in those situations I'm paying close attention to everything I'm doing. In my limited experience, it works as long as I'm staying present with the situation. But I guess that's the way most things go. Everything has pros and cons.

I have two other vehicles that have the traditional shifter, so I never get completely used to the dial on the BS. it's not terrible, but it still takes some adjusting when I get into it.

The bigger adjustment I had to make when I first got it was making sure I turned the right dial when wanting to choose a GOAT mode.

Agreed. The transmission is the worst part of this vehicle and is probably the only reason why I want to get rid of it. And I also agree that a 6 speed manual would even be preferable. Simpler and lighter design.

Imagine how much fun the little Sport would be with a manual transmission! It would be cheaper as well. At least, in the big Bronco world, the automatic is about $1200 more than the manual. Much less heat would be produced, and there would be no need for the cooler up front.
