I noticed this the other day as well, couldn't roll down my windows a few days after they were tinted. Opened my door while it was in drive and right into park she went!

My 2017 Ram does that. It's a nice feature.

I showed off that feature to my wife the other day. I’m always leaving her Explorer in D instead of Park. I love it and she thought it was really cool.

Also, I was loading my trailer in my driveway so my BS was parked on a steep slope. I try to remember to engage the parking brake but I didn’t think I did and I’m pretty sure it engaged itself when I turned off the engine.

I discovered this yesterday. I have heard horror stories of people with style shifter forgetting to put the car in park before turning it off. Makes me feel better about not having a traditional shifter

Horror stories (induced by the not shifting to park) - I've seen too many of those on TV, don't want to see that in actual/live.
so yeah very good feature to have :)

If you put it into neutral it doesn’t do anything like this. And it will only go from D to P if you hit the start stop button when it’s in D or open the driver door

What's the L in the center of your shifter mean? Mine is M for manual and has the paddles on the steering wheel.

What happens if you open the driver's door going 55mph down the highway? Asking for a friend.

It shifts the Transmission into low gear . I used it on the beach with our OB , I believe the FE & Badlands are like yours.

WE tried the auto shift in a parking space before we pulled out & it didn't work , but we drove out of the space a little & stoped & it worked . there has to be some kind of combination of set parameters for it to work , we never touched the on/off start switch . I guess when she gets home I will consult the owners manual .
