I have been to busy but after a couple weeks of owning this Bronco Sport Bigbend 2025 I got to take it on a short trip. So, I put it in cruise and the vehicle basically steered for me and corrected the steering as soon as the vehicle was not exactly in the center of the hwy.

I never realized or read anything on this feature before I bought it. So, is this what I'm experiencing that it will correct and actually drive for you if it is needed. I know not to rely on it and still never take hands off the wheel but it will drive and take a curve if you allow it to do so.

Any comments for me to learn more on this assist steering? Is it activated only in cruise or driving on hwy. without cruise and where can I disable this feature? I haven't had much time to read over the manual but qnted some first hand info and advise on this feature.

Thank You All.

A bunch of people on the F150 forums are strapping an ankle weight to the steering wheel to simulate having your hands on the wheel. It works pretty much like Bruecruise does.

Wow!!
Thanks for your reply. It was quite a shock to me when I got to drive it and that feature was on it. If there is anyone else that has experience with this feature please respond. Thank You!!!

Do you have adaptive cruise control?

My understanding is that Bluecruise also uses GPS information on pre-mapped sections of highway to enable hands free operation. It also uses an infrared camera to make sure the driver is still paying attention even with hands off the wheel.

Defeating the steering wheel sensors that sense hands on the wheel with an ankle weight might work but seems like a really bad idea to me.

Yes, it only works with cruise control and with lane centering enabled. I believe to disable lane centering on the 2025, is it on the left side of the steering wheel:

Yea, that is exactly how Bluecruise works. The whole good idea/bad idea has been debated, but many people have driven countless miles using that technique and say it works great. I've even heard of people wedging water or gatorade bottles in the steering wheel to trick it into working. 🤷‍♂️ 🤣

Thank You for all the great info and knowledge on the feature. Not a good idea IMO either to try to fool the system.

Do you have adaptive cruise control?
I have no Idea what that means and it doesn't say I have that on the window sticker. I guess I need to look more in depth but can't seem to find much on this feature for some reason.

From the owners manual.

Lane Centering - Lane Centering Requirements
Ford Bronco Sport Bronco Sport Driving Assist Help! 1769883030724-x

Lane Centering Requirements

You must keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times.
Lane centering only activates when all of the following occur:
  • Adaptive cruise control with lane centering is enabled in the touchscreen. See Switching Lane Centering On and Off.
  • You have adaptive cruise control enabled and set.
  • The steering system detects your hands on the steering wheel.
  • The system detects both lane markings when driving on a straight road.
  • Your vehicle is initially centered in the lane between two visible line markings.
  • Automatic Emergency Braking is switched on. See Switching Automatic Emergency Braking On and Off.
  • The driver seatbelt is fastened.
  • A trailer is not detected.
Note: If the system does not detect valid lane line markings, the system remains in standby until valid line markings are available.
Note: If the system does not detect your hands on the steering wheel, apply a slight force to the steering wheel.

While lane centering isn't Ford BlueCruise I've read people have attached different types of weights to the steering wheel to fool the system for hands free driving so to speak.

For ‘21-‘24 (at least) Bronco Sports it’s been posted on this Forum there’s no sensor on the steering wheel itself but it’s in the steering column (or associated parts) that is measuring steering inputs to detect if hands (or thighs I suppose) are on the steering wheel: “ Resting your hand on the steering wheel isn't sufficient for the system sensors; you must actively steer the car. “

With Lane Keeping set to on (the push button on the end of the turn signal stalk) the vehicle will bounce back and forth in the lane. When you use your turn signal Lane Keeping will be paused as you change lanes.

Lane Centering is only available with adaptive cruise control. This will keep the vehicle centered in the lane (no bouncing) and will also steer the vehicle as the road veers to the left or right.

Look at the button controls on the left side of the steering wheel. If you have adaptive cruise control it will look like this.

Adaptive Cruise will keep your set speed or read speed limit signs while driving. Your vehicle will also slow down and speed up according to vehicles in front of you.

Read the owner’s manual. You can download one and save it to your phone.

I turned that feature off, I got tired having to argue where on the road I wanted to be. When first got my sport I wasnt happy with it wandering down the road, I thought what a crappy car cant go in a straight line. Also I found with these assists they would react to skid marks and tar strips.

I love my intelligent adaptive cruise control with lane centering. I will never own another vehicle without it.

It makes a long drive so much more relaxing.
