On my Fords, I have disabled the lane centering. The reason is that it makes driving on a two lane road exhausting. Most of the people I know that have Fords have done this for the same reason. None of us are trying to go hands free and I can see that is might have some use if you trusted it. I don't.

I believe you may be confusing Lane Keeping and Lane Centering. These are two completely different features.

When Lane Keeping is activated, the vehicle will bounce back and forth within the lane markers and warn you with adjustable steering feedback.

When Lane Centering is activated, the vehicle will be precisely centered in the lane. You can remove your hands from the steering wheel for around 10 seconds before receiving a warning.

You must use a turn signal when changing lanes with either one. If not, you will receive a vibration in the steering wheel warning you that you a crossing the lane marker.

Read the owner’s manual. You can download one and save it to your phone.
Yes I have a manual on the ford app. I just haven't had time to sit and completely study it. I really wanted some first hand advise and knowledge of this feature.

thomasm23. You are correct. The issue is lane centering. When driving two lane roads you seldom stay centered in the lane like the system wants. Every time you want to be by the center line or fog line you are fighting the centering system. Very annoying and tiresome.

I drive almost 2000 miles every week sometimes more sometimes less, not in my sport. I use cruise control as much as possible but I dont believe in relaxing too much. I see those relaxed ones in the ditch a lot. They play with their phones because they dont need to drive. Of course Im crotchety and old but all this tech isnt making people smarter or better drivers in my estimation.

Why would you be using Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering in that situation???

It is best used on the highway/freeway/Interstate.

With Lane Keeping set to on (the push button on the end of the turn signal stalk) the vehicle will bounce back and forth in the lane. When you use your turn signal Lane Keeping will be paused as you change lanes.

Lane Centering is only available with adaptive cruise control. This will keep the vehicle centered in the lane (no bouncing) and will also steer the vehicle as the road veers to the left or right.

Look at the button controls on the left side of the steering wheel. If you have adaptive cruise control it will look like this.

Adaptive Cruise will keep your set speed or read speed limit signs while driving. Your vehicle will also slow down and speed up according to vehicles in front of you.
Adaptive cruise doesn't read speed signs, that's only available with intelligent adaptive cruise

I don’t use the speed sign based CC feature on mine, it’s too restrictive in real-world driving in the metro area. It is kind of cool, though, to see the display update almost magically.

If it allowed for a selectable +/- range I might consider it.

In regard to the speed sign recognition all new cars in the EU now have to be equipped with ISA, Intelligent Speed Assistance.

We did a driving trip in Ireland last summer and the rental car had ISA. It turns on every time you start the car and gives you annoying beep and notification every time you exceed what it determines is the speed limit. Incredibly annoying. You can shut it off but need to do so every time you start the car. I had to search online to figure out how to shut it off. aside from being annoying it’s often wrong. Numerous times while on the highway and passing a side road it would pick the slower speed from the side road.

let’s hope that ISA isn’t required in the US it’s awful. The speed sign recognition seems to indicate the tech is already there and probably would only require a software change to enable the audible warning.

TSR (traffic sign recognition) can easily be disabled in the IPC with FORScan for anyone that wants to permanently turn it off.

I'd only want to disable alerts, if & when they come to pass.

You can disable ISA (intellgent speed assist), but you would still get the alerts. If you disable TSR, I think ISA would stop working by default. In this case, I don't think you can have your cake and eat it, too.

Unless, disabling "TSR overspeed chime" is the alert that is bothering you. In that case, it seems like there is a specific setting in the IPC for that. The only problem is this is from the 2024+ F150 sheet, so it would require some level of experimentation since there may be differences between the two vehicles.

Edit: The 2026 Maverick shows the TSR chime in the same location, so that should be it.
