I'm at 43k miles and probably at 5/32 tread depth (based on being at 6/32 at my last oil change. I had planned to move to Toyo Open Country but I was transferred for work and now have an hour highway drive to and from work. I want to make sure I have good highway road noise and comfort along with good wet traction.

I don't think I need anything too aggressive. Off-pavement, I mostly drive on sand, dirt trails, and maybe some rocky trails. I think having a tire with stronger sidewall (I'm not sure what the term is) to protect from anything that would puncture or tear it is more important than aggressive treads.

Here are the three I'm looking at in 235/65/17:
Toyo Open Country
BFG Trail Terrain
Yokohama Geolander G015

Any recommendations on these?

I am putting on another set of BF Goodrich Trail Terrains next week. They are relatively quiet on the road and have been great during our desert southwest adventures rock, gravel, sand , hardly ever spin a wheel. Get the 108T, higher load rating that the 104T. I also like the sidewalls and look of the tire. Walmart online has a really good price, $169.88ea . I was able to get Discount Tire to match it.

Looks like Discount Tire still offers the OEM Falkens AT3w’s. I know they are not on your list, but I’d buy them again if still available when I need tires.

I ran Toyo Open Country AT3 on my OBX 235/65/18 absolutely loved them. Put them on after a week so not enough data to know how mpg changed. But I got about 68k miles on them. Rotated regularly. Towed a trailer from South Texas to Maryland and back. Got a great deal when I bought them that offset the cost, which is the biggest setback they are pricey but would be my pick.

My vote is for the BFG Trail Terrain's. I have them on my 05 F150 & on my wife's 21 BS/BB.

I went from the T3W to the T4W due to availability, the T4W have a stiffer sidewall, but bith are great and quiet.

I thought they were a lot heavier too, but I see it’s only around 6 pounds.

Absolutely agree with the Falcon WildPeak A/T3W recommendations. They have now gone thru 3 snow/ ice storms here in TN, and have been phenomenal. I've also taken them on several dispersed camping trips and have never wanted for anything else from a tire.

I've had nothing but good luck with Toyo's... I had a Tacoma that i put Open Country AT2s on and they were great . When i got my 4Runner I upgraded to AT3 and they were great...I just upgraded the baby Bronco with Open Country AT3 and been through some good snow and ice with ZERO issues.. I suggest the Toyo's

Appreciate everyone's suggestions. Still a tough decision.

A couple of things I'm considering:

I looked at 225/65/17 size and those are only sold as SL Load Range. 235s come with XL which is what I'm leaning towards.

The Yokohamas are listed at All Terrain AND Touring. That's giving them extra points for me since I'll be doing mostly on highway driving.

I still need to decide to purchase them at either Discount Tire or Ford. Normally I'd do Discount Tire but Ford might have some deals sometimes. I don't know about the warranty Ford has though.
