I turned mine off, if the sensors get any slop on them you cant use cruise control at all.
I have to stop and clean them but as well any of these “features” that make it easier to not pay attention to the road are a habit I dont want to get into. I see so many vehicles in the ditch and I cant imagine how those drivers ended up there, totally distracted I guess.

My Toyota has red indicator bars in the digital dash display that shows when the brake lights are on during braking (whether automatic braking or with brake pedal). Not sure if the wife's new 26 Badlands with Badlands Tech Package has a brake lights indicator in the dash display.
Unless they were added for the '26 models specifically, then it doesn't; the '25's don't, and that was the refresh year. In fact, there were a number of deletions for '26, with the only additions (AFAIK) being two new colors.

Or you can do like we used to do before all this tech garbage was added to vehicles, drive the vehicle & do NOT depend on a computer to do it for you.

I’ve been driving for nearly 60 years, when power windows would’ve been considered “tech garbage”. I don’t depend on modern tech, but I do enjoy the labor-saving aspects where appropriate. I own the driving process from startup to shutdown, but that doesn’t mean I don’t mind offloading some of the more tiresome parts from time to time.

Right there with you, I have been driving since 1975.

There is a "speed limit tolerance" setting that does help with the abrupt changes ... I ended up turning this feature off for now though. I just didn't like the surprises.

I would strongly suggest that you deactivate the predictive speed functions. They can cause things to happen that you aren't ready for. It can also result in your vehicle doing things that are not proper for your vehicle depending on current traffic conditions.
I absolutely hate the predictive speed feature. It is way too aggressive.

While we are on the subject, has anybody else noticed that when there are several posted speed limits, ie (65 min 45, trucks over 4 tons 60)that the system reads or thinks that the speed limit is 60 and automatically slows the car to 60 when ACC is activated. Is there a way to change that ? It’s annoying. You’re taveling at 65 and all of suddek it slows to 60 because the sigb says 60.
Yes, ACC must be enabled/active for the distance-keeping and speed up/down features to function. In traffic, it will slow to a complete stop and resume acceleration up to the set speed without intervention.

There is, however, Automatic Emergency Braking which does not depend on ACC. AI overview of Ford AEB:

"The Ford Bronco Sport features standard Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), designed to detect vehicles or pedestrians ahead and automatically apply the brakes if a collision is imminent and the driver doesn't respond. This system uses camera and radar to help prevent or mitigate crashes. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Key Aspects of the Bronco Sport AEB System:

  • Three-Stage Response: Detects risks and emits audible/visual alerts, pre-charges the brakes for faster response, and finally applies full AEB if necessary.
  • System Capabilities: It can detect stationary vehicles, moving vehicles, and pedestrians, even in certain nighttime conditions.
  • Settings Adjustment: Driver alertness and system sensitivity can be adjusted to high, normal, or low in the instrument cluster menu.
  • Limitations: Camera and radar sensors may have reduced efficiency in poor weather conditions (fog, snow, rain). [2, 5, 6, 7]
The AEB system is part of the Ford Co-Pilot360 safety suite, which is designed to enhance driver awareness and safety. [2]

AI can make mistakes, so double-check responses

I thought I would put in my two cents on this subject. I have experienced this about four times. When traveling on a four-lane road with those cement barriers about 4ft high in between is when this occurs. With ACC (CC) engaged in right lane and you come on slower traffic, car reduces speed, you turn on turn signal to move to the left to pass, while the car is moving left it picks up the cement barrier being in front of you and starts to go into quick braking mode, wow, first time it happens, you learn real fast to watch out for that driver experience

In Oregon, we have school zones posted at 20mph. We have a lot of school zones located on 55mph highways. The car always sees the 20mph zone regardless if it is active or not (e.g. night, weekends, Spring Break...) For that reason I do not use the automatic speed setting. I have a hard enough time with the car breaking for a turning vehicle 1/8th mile ahead without it suddenly slowing 40mph when it shouldn't. Otherwise, I really like the Ford adaptive cruise. It's the right amount of assist while still leaving the driver in control.

That would be nice to have. I've seen a lot of posts where BSs are rear ended and I always wonder if it had to do with ACC activating but the brake lights not being applied. I came from an Accord with a seemingly very active forum and don't remember that many accidents.

As for tech in general, I love it when it works. I do love driving and wish I could get a BS 6-speed but it certainly would be nice to get off work, set it to go home, and just lay down while it drove itself.

The safety features have come in handy. I try to pay attention to my surroundings and after 28 years of legal driving, have only had one accident (1st day driving my 1st car), but ACC saved me a few times when someone cut into my lane while I was looking to switch lanes or the person in front of me suddenly slows down if I'm coughing or something quick. I probably would've caught it and slowed down myself but it's nice to know it's picking up those nuances before my eyes do.

Change yoursettings to less intense. I had it set to intense and nearly got in a accident on the 401 Ontarios busiest Hyw if no the world's.
