Here’s some new spy photos of the interior of the upcoming refresh of the Sport. I wonder how that big screen is gonna look with how the interior is currently designed.

I don't like the elimination of the physical controls. Putting everything on buttons and a touchscreen makes for distracted driving.
New cars are becaming unsafer, IMO.
I'm not a Luddite. Eyes on road is safer than searching a display, or searching for a particular button.

I thought about getting another VW GTI until I saw the dash and steering wheel layout. What a nightmare that VW created.

I just use my steering wheel controls so I don’t have to touch my radio, but I know the physical buttons for the air and stuff are being put into the Sync4 system screen like they are in the Escape and I think that’s dumb.

100% agreed. I had a 2015 Ford Fusion with controls like this:

They were horrible and distracting to use while driving. I later swapped this module (the FCIM) with one from a 2016 Fusion that had real buttons (including real buttons for the heated and cooled seats).

Ford seems to be using taking away physical controls as a way to make bigger prettier screen, but it's bad usability to make common controls on screen.

(This was a huge purchase factor that I influenced when my folks were shopping for a 2023 Expedition - basically explained my frustration with that and warned them before the test drive, but sure tour both at the dealer. Sure enough, seeing the Sync 4 12" screen flanked by real controls and then seeing the pretty much all touchscreen Sync 4A 15.5" screen, they got what I was saying and skipped 4A).

For radio controls you can somewhat mitigate this with steering wheel controls, but in general you don't have steering wheel controls for climate functions...

Can use voice commands (if equipped)

“Set the Temperature to ____”

gives you someone to talk to when no one else is in the car ( or whenever the spouse doesn’t wanna talk )

takes too long even if it understands what you want.

I wonder if you get the dreaded blue screen or a blank screen, will the voice commands still work?

No access to defrost, etc. could be a safety hazard.

That's the one thing about Sync 4 I don't like, eliminating the physical HVAC buttons.

I like using the night view all the time with my Nav screen.. I'd probably do the same with that screen.

For those who use stock radio (Sync 3), it's cumbersome and slow in comparison. Voice commands are useful compared to something distracting (keyboard entry of a navigation destination while driving) or time consuming (finding a phonebook entry on the phone or radio screen) or both. Turning the heated seats on or turning the temp down a couple degrees is basically instant with physical controls.

For those of us who use Apple Carplay or Android Auto, the current experience does not support voice controls for climate while these are in use.

physical buttons/knobs for all the "important" stuff in vehicles.... like lights, wipers, signals, defrost, heat, etc.... tablet for phone and other non-essential stuff.... i agree with some here saying it is making things more dangerous. i think the accident rate is slowly climbing due to distracted driving....and the MFGs are creating the issues....
im hoping the 2 i have now will last me for another 20yrs.... but if they are filled with electronics, just like other things they will die in 10yrs....
nothing reliable nowadays....

Same, I had the 2013 Fusion with that button setup and it was awful. I would move my hand near the console I didn't even need to touch the buttons for them to think they were being 'pushed'.
