I’m just wondering how they can possibly know which vehicles this recall pertains to.It’s not like there were defective parts installed and they know the batch number and what vehicles they were installed in.This just looks like improper installation of a good part.It would seem like every vehicle has to be checked

I'm guessing they have tracked it down to a specific worker that has been incorrectly assembling these components and they are able to determine exactly when the person worked and which VINs passed through that person's station. The scary part is that it took 5 years to determine the issue.

They usually track it down to a process or a part change. If it's due to a bad part, the supplier can usually tell them when they were shipped, etc. and once they figure that out, they can usually define a date range where that process or part change occurred and from there, they can pinpoint specific VINs.

I see people saying I dodged this one and I did also. How screwed up is that? I think I am on my last Ford. 2021 FE and 2024 150 Lariat. If Ram would have had their chit together I would have purchased a Ram truck instead of a Ford. At 67 hoping I will never purchase another vehicle period. Good luck all.

No need to guess … The reason for the low # of affected vehicles and the root cause are documented in Part 573 Safety Recall Report 26V340 posted earlier:

Which vehicles are affected:

“For production dates prior to June 1, 2025… Unsold vehicles and vehicles with less than 3 months in service as of May 18, 2026, from this production period are included in the recall population based on Ford’s understanding of the issue and observed occurrences in the field which indicate it will manifest very early in the vehicle’s lifetime.”

“Vehicles from this production period that were sent to in-plant repair stations for inspection/repair of the joint are included in the recall population”

Root cause:

“For vehicles built prior to June 1, 2025, the vehicle assembly plant operator may not have fully inserted the front lower control arm ball stud into the front wheel knuckle before securing an associated pinch bolt.”

“For vehicles built on June 1, 2025, or later, vehicles identified as requiring an in-plant repair to ensure proper bolt secure may have been shipped without the repair being completed.”

“On June 1, 2025, assembly station updates were made that prevented the improper assembly condition.”

Based on Part 573 Safety Recall Report 26V340 posted earlier, “rest assured” 🫣 that if your Bronco Sport has been in-service (driven) for over 3 months and was built in the documented time-frame Ford stated, you would (perhaps) not have the improper front lower control arm assembly (and assuming there’s no unexplainable clunking from the front end)

Good idea to check regardless 😉

Thank you for providing this detailed information.

My '25 BSBB was built in May, 2025 and now has 12 months of service and approximately 7,000 kms on the odometer. I am assuming from your posts (and because there is no recall on my Ford app or "unexplainable clunking" ) that my vehicle does not have this defect.

I just came from my local Ford dealership in Toronto and the service advisor there had no idea what I was talking about when I described this possible problem ! Interesting that neither Ford of Canada nor Transport Canada (government agency for auto safety) seems to be aware of the situation ?

But, as you said " Good idea to check regardless" so my BB is going in next week to be inspected by Ford !

Cheers

Ford is in the recall lead by at least 10 laps over every other manufactured combined.

Description of the safety risk, including crash, fire, death, injury:

An improperly installed engine camshaft roller finger follower may result in engine

failure, resulting in a no start condition or a loss of motive power. A loss of motive power increases the

risk of crash.

Exactly, how are there so few supposedly affected, over basically the entire time BS's have been built.
