Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Bronco Sport and Maverick Vehicles; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately
June 1, 2026
Ford Motor Company is advising owners of approximately 4,653 Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles from the 2021 to 2026 model years in the United States and Federal Territories to stop driving their vehicles immediately. This "Do Not Drive" advisory is due to a potential suspension assembly concern.
Ford is working closely with dealers to provide customers with complimentary towing of their vehicles for inspection and repair as needed. Customers will also be provided the option to have their vehicle inspected by dealership personnel at the customer’s location via mobile service where applicable.
On affected vehicles, the front lower control arm ball joints of the vehicle’s suspension system may not have been assembled correctly. If a joint fails while the vehicle is moving, the driver could lose steering control increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will visually inspect the front lower control arm ball joint assembly on both the left and right sides, and repair, as necessary at no cost to the customer.
Customers can determine if their vehicle is included in this recall (26S36) by entering their 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) at www.ford.com/support/recalls. Owners may also contact Ford’s Customer Service Center at 1-833-807-3673 for assistance in arranging a tow and repair.
and you know with Ford, there are always more recalls coming.Missed this one also, unless Ford decides to add more vehicles to the list at some point.
Till the next one.

Thanks for this. My retail order sticker date is 12/15/25, so it seems that the problem was well known at the time. I just crawled under my BSBL and all looks fine, the ball joint shaft is flush.Info about how the issue was found:

| Automaker | Vehicles Affected | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ford | 7.3 million+ | Driven by a 4.38M‑vehicle trailer brake lighting defect and 1.74M‑vehicle backup camera failure. |
| GM | ~43,000 | Transmission valve failure causing rear‑wheel lockup. |
| Chrysler/Stellantis | ~150,000 (Jeep 4xe battery fire risk) | High‑voltage battery short‑circuit fire hazard. |
| Nissan | 642,000 | Rogue bearing defect causing sudden loss of drive power. |
| Toyota | 165,000 | Pre‑collision software failure. |
It's a QC issue. So odd. I wonder if this might be the tip of the iceberg. There appears to not be a problem with design nor a defective part. Solely a sporadic assembly issue, a process issue. The sporadic part doesn't seem logical to me. Time will tell.
AI OverviewThis hits just keep coming for Ford. Why does Jim Farley still have a job?

“Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me.”AI Overview
Ford CEO Jim Farley received a career-high $27.5 million compensation package, largely driven by a 130% company-wide bonus rate. While his base salary remained at $1.7 million, his annual cash bonus surged to $5.75 million, triggered by improvements in vehicle quality and electric vehicle (EV) volume targets.
Detroit Free Press +1
The high payout has sparked some controversy. The bonus success was calculated using "initial quality" metrics (repairs in the first 90 days of ownership), but it coincided with a period where Ford faced record-setting recalls and posted an $8.2 billion net loss.
