Just wanted to share this, must be easier for them to get around in the city, I wouldn't think they would be used for any type of pursuit though.

If I see a BS kitted up like that, I’m thinking mall cop.

That being said, I have seen Birmingham, AL PD using Smart cars for downtown enforcement. I asked the cop driving it if he had lost a bet.

When it comes to pursuit no matter what you will never out run the radio or a helo.

That Bronco Sport will plow through places any Explorer can only dream of going. I owned a 2018 Explorer Platinum (And just traded it in for the BSBLS.) if the snow got too deep in my driveway the ECU would suddenly disable the AWD system to prevent you from damaging it. And not allow you to reactivate it without cleaning off the tone rings and all 4 wheel speed sensors, Leaving you 100% stuck..............in a driveway that is less than 2 car lengths long.......

I think Boston doesn't allow high speed pursuits anyway. As mentioned above radio and helicopter have been proven better than high speed pursuit. Less civilian deaths and damage.

I suspect what you said about maneuverability is what they are tying out. I'm very impressed with the BS moving around in tight spaces.

After a brief search (and just looking at the photo), these are Community Service vehicles, not used for patrol.

I'll have to try to find the picture I snapped, there's a cool CBRNE/EOD one in my county!

If they use 2.0L's they're actually pretty quick.

I think it's a great idea. You still have the back seat and as long as you do the bad lands, it's fast enough. Besides the transmission, it's super reliable and everything has been proven on other cars and you get decent mpg's. It's pretty good at everything.I think it'd be a great police vehicle
