FINALLLY! got the car back today. They did a much better job and fixed the spots I pointed out. The noise in the rear hatch area is gone also. What a crazy last 2 months.

-Wife got rear ended April 18th
-Had a smelly dirty camry loaner car for 4.5 weeks
-Work truck broken into
-Got the baby bronco back and was disappointed.
-Gave sport back, had a nicer but still not great chevy Malibu loaner
- death in the family on the wife's side
- get away trip in the chevy loaner
- after 3 weeks picked up the sport today after work. 9 weeks I want to forget about.

Time to start over

Swapped the short 4" antenna I had from when we had the big bend for a stubby jr. 2" antenna.

A few of the members here have them and the finish matches better to the plastic texture of the shark fin. And also sits farther below the roof basket now.

I've questioned some of you why would you want these. Now mind you I wouldn't spend the money on the redline struts. I got these for $30 and they look simple as factory as possible. But I will admit. They are pretty cool.

Mission success. Told the wife to go shopping this morning and I got back to work. Got it done before she got back home. We will see if she notices.

@MRT Performance im not sure how this exhaust is supposed to slip over factory piping like your instructions say.

The slip flange is same outer diameter as factory piping. I got nasty with the torch to try to heat and bend. Mangled it and still wouldn't fit. Ended up cutting at the first dimple 2" back from slip flange. And using a 2-1/4" exhaust clamp from auto zone.

Will be welding it on. It sounds great though. Subtle low drone, weight reduction, and better flow.

so the wife didn't notice the change until she drove it herself. I got a phone call while I was at work. she wasn't too upset by it. I think she actually likes it now. someone said they're getting better MPG, I don't know how they're doing that. ours dropped to like 17 from 20 city driving. I might unhook the negative battery terminal for a while and see if it will do a little reset.

still need to weld the pipe. and I may have another part coming but wont know until around the 4th of July.:inspect:

Not to celebrate other peoples struggles, but this is the exact issue i ran into when trying to install this muffler as well. So i'm glad to see its clearly a design issue and not me being to dumb to install it.

Similarly i tried using heat to expand the flanges, but ended up mangling the end and settling on an exhaust coupler with the intention of coming back later and cutting the pipes shorter and welding it properly.

MRT should be looking into this because i saw some other people reference similar problems with install as well

 nope not just you. on one of the you tube videos where they install on a 1.5l it clearly shows the end being different than what we received. in the video you can tell it obviously has a bell end and very easily slips over the factory side.

not sure if its a mistake from being manufactured by humans in a shop bending pieces all day and fatigue set in, or if the if the instructions or whatever they have to assemble them got mixed up. since obviously this isn't a one off mistake.

I was hoping @MRT Performance would chime in

Thanks for the feedback, everyone — we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences.

We haven't encountered this issue during installations here at the shop, and as shown in our installation video, the system did slip on without resistance. That said, it’s clear from your posts that there may be inconsistencies showing up in the field, and that’s something we absolutely take seriously.

We’re going to begin investigating this further. It’s possible there’s some variability in the stock exhaust diameter at the rear muffler, or perhaps a production inconsistency slipped through — but at this point, that’s just speculation.

To help us get a clear picture of what’s going on, I’d encourage anyone who’s run into this fitment issue to DM me directly. Photos, part numbers, and details about your Bronco model (1.5L vs. 2.0L, etc.) would be super helpful as we start tracking and identifying any patterns.

Apologies for missing the earlier posts, and thank you again for bringing this to our attention — we'll make sure it gets looked into.

@MRT Performance thanks for the reply, but im sure the factory piping is all the same size across the board.

Here are screenshots from your you tube channel vs. The end of the pipe I received.
Ford Bronco Sport Quashish Family Ride Thread : 2024 Badlands 20250613_160145

I'm still gathering data, but after a quick conversation with our engineering team, it looks like the stock tubing on the Bronco Sport is slightly smaller than the standard 2.5" tubing we typically use. In cases like this, we reduce the tube size slightly so it fits securely over the smaller stock pipe.

One thing to note — the exhaust shown in the installation screenshots already had a clamp on the connection point. That may be what you're seeing when comparing screenshots from the video to your photo of the axle-back without the clamp installed on the inlet.

We just pulled a unit from the same production batch off the shelf and test-fitted it with a stock 2.0L Bronco Sport muffler we still had — it slid right on with no problems. Here’s a video showing that connection:

That being said, there are still a few things we’d like to understand better from those who have experienced an issue:

Was the cut point on the stock over axle tube properly deburred after making the cut at the muffler?

Was the MRT inlet possibly out of round due to handling during shipping?

We're still waiting to hear from more Bronco Sport owners who’ve had the same experience, and hopefully, as we gather more data, we can pinpoint a common denominator. If you've run into this issue, please reach out — your input will help us get to the bottom of it. The more information we receive the quicker we can pin point the possible issue.

From my experience, I did fully deburr the stock tube when I cut it, and the inlet tube on the MRT Axelback did not appear out of round, rather, it was the exact same diameter of the stock tube, so there was no way it was sleeving over or inside of the stock tube
