Heads up for possible recall on water pumps

I have a 24 BS Outerbanks and recently took it in for a service and the tech said we had hardly any coolant and that we had a leak. Fast forward to today when I picked it up and they said they had to replace the water pump and that they are seeing alot of the newer BS with this issue.

I, too, had the water pump replaced in my '22 BSOB!

Water pumps on the 1.5L are basically a disposable product

2 weeks ago took my 2024 in for oil change and tire rotation (roughly 26,000 miles). Was told I had a slight coolant leak and I should keep an eye on it. I asked if it was a warranty repair. Was told it was. So told them to keep it until it was fixed. Day later and I had it back. Water pump replaced.

love my BS Outerbanks. But drive a lot of miles. So, shortly after buying, I purchased the ford extended warranty for up to 175k or 6 years. With the max care (or whatever the highest is called). Next month I’ll have had her 1 year and will be at almost 29,000 miles.

Nope. We have a 2023 heritage model. About to have the pump replaced for the 2nd time.

Water pumps on the 1.5L are basically a disposable product

Dealers need to flush which a lot don't ... there is residual casting sand in the 1.5L block castings. It's eating the water pump, it is very abrasive.

I think this was included in TSB procedure, some technician don't check thoroughly unfortunately.

They flushed ours… Still leaked again.

They made a redesigned pump also and they still leak.

I have a 23 and mine leaked. Looks like the replacement water pump is leaking as well. In my experience, about every 10k miles it has to be replaced

I have a 2024 BS OB I bought last June and don't even have 4000 miles on it yet. Just turned 3200.
