The gas mileage calculator makes some fun assumptions. I leave my house in Denver, fill the tank, dash says I have 351 miles until empty. Leave for Rocky Mountain National Park (Estes Park side), drive through the entire park, stopping often. Exit at Grand Lake, drive home. I drive 209 miles In total. As I park the Bronco, the dash says I still have 325 miles until empty.

The calculator gave me 31.4 mpg for the trip.

Massive elevation changes seem to be ameliorated by slow, steady driving when it comes to fuel efficiency.

Thank you for expanding my vocabulary with 'ameliorate'. :) Fantastic! ?

I’d have to dig over 5000’ to reach to top of Britton Hill. :)

I will have to try that Montana downhill trick. Gas up near Dillon and drive home. The dash should show an entertaining MPG number.

345 feet?!! Get the oxygen out! I’m at 260’ above sea level while visiting here in central FL this week and thought THAT was pretty far up there for this State! ?
If you're in "central fl" and got up that high, you most likely went over the "Lake Wales Ridge".

We're very serious about our few feet here, few feet there elevation in Florida. In fact, I plan on moving out of Miami eventually, and probably to this ridge, if I stay in Florida. It might be the only safe place out of floodzones in 40 or so years.

The wife and I drove up to Vail, Co this past week from Loveland, CO. Left Monday, returned Thursday. The round trip was just over 300 miles. We averaged 34.4 mpg in our 22 Big Bend. We added another 75 city driven miles before filling up. 12gal. 31.25mpg for the tank!

I’ve got just over 420 miles on a tank a few times (‘22 Badlands). Have to keep speed close to 60mph. All freeway and level (no hills) and no AC.

But now in town 110°F driving and getting 19.9mpg with AC on high and summer gas. That’s what the display says but over the life of the vehicle the display reads 1.2mpg average higher than actual. So really getting 18.7mpg.

That’s unusually low from prior summer driving so going to check the front grill shutters:

Isn’t she the one that got lost trying to fly around the world?
And I thought that the National Geographic was supposed to be having a special episode because they found the plane....that was 6 months ago.

A high school friend and his wife live near the north end of the ridge, near Clermont.

He bought land and built his house there for just that reason.
