I usually buy OEM air filters and cabin filters. I don't need one for the BS yet and usually buy from eBay. I recently purchased a Honda cabin filter for $21 for my wife's HR-V.
I was surprised when my local dealer said $43 for the filter. That isn't happening with me.

I don't mind paying a fair price for OEM parts. This wasn't one of them.

For $43, I'd go aftermarket too.

Good info on this thread. As one posted above about using points. I've had my BS for over two years now. I used points for everthing, oil changes, tire mounting, wiper blades, you name it. Now I save the points for other things like tires, alignment, and odds and ends. OEM is good but there is better replacements for less price on the market. Now I have a good list of aftermarket Cabin Filters. Thanks all.

Can you give me an idea of what other brands you have used for future purchases?

So your saying that you can actually feel the difference in airflow between the Motorcraft filter and the other brands when you have the blower on?
Ford dealers were having a hard time getting the Motorcraft filter, they were on back order.

I stopped into an AutoZone and purchased the only one they had that fit, an STP filter. I thought that something was wrong with the fan. On high, hardly any air was coming from the dash registers. The HVAC system was on max cool.

A few days later, I was out of town and stopped into a Ford dealer, they had the correct Motorcraft filter in stock. What a difference when you can feel cool air in abundance.

The fan is located below the filter. The fan sucks air downward through the filter. If the filter material is too dense, not enough airflow can move through the filter. I have seen the same issue with GM vehicles.

Thanks for explaining your issues. I haven't used the A/C yet since putting in the filter. If there's an problem I sure will report back.

Which way should the air be flowing? I forget what that location looks like now but I remember when I changed it, I thought the dealership had put my dirty one in upside down.

“Air Flow arrow on cabin filter points down towards Passenger floor”

… Air blows down toward the floor

Just think about where the dirt should reside. The dirty side on these must be on the top. Leafs, insects and all kinds of bad stuff comes in.

This is different than an in-home system where the intake is quite often in the ceiling or wall. You do not get the same large particles, mostly dust.
