:eek:o_O $349.00 for this? As a previous post (#2) states, you can assemble one for less; long as you know what you need.

Christmas 2024 is just around the corner; try to be good to someone that would spend that amount on you.

You can use your Ford points to buy it with no money out of pocket. There is almost always a brand tax, but this is a high-quality tool set with a lifetime warranty for the Bronco branded tools.

For in car tools, I purchased a Bronco door removal tool kit from eBay. It's a small portfolio size, contains a 10 and 13mm socket and ratchet drive, and a couple Torx tips (T30 and T50 I think). To it, I'll add an 8mm socket. Beyond that, I carry a couple of screw drivers (spade and Philips), a pair of pliers, and a socket and breaker for tire changes. It was a bit pricey at $45USD, but heck, you know what is said about money: you can't take it with you. The one I bought was listed as new. It smelled strongly of tobacco smoke. Maybe it was unused but doubtfully new.
After removing the tools, I liberally sprayed the portfolio with Fabreze and kept it in the garage for a few weeks to air out, spraying it a couple of times over the weeks that I had it in quarantine.

For me, the big plus for this is the tool roll that is designed to hold these tools exactly. You won’t find anything like that from HF. It is definitely overpriced but Ford does have sale prices 15-20% off somewhat frequently.

What seems weird is to include impact sockets and extension for an in-vehicle toolkit. I guess someone could be carrying a battery powered impact gun. Maybe Ford is bringing a Bronco impact gun out soon too?

There also is a 'Ford Truck' tool set on the Ford Accesories website that is about $100 or so cheaper. It says Ford but doesn't say Bronco! It's less tools and different ones from what I can tell by looking at the pictures. Also available by using points. Both are cool but a bit pricey.

This is no doubt obvious to most forum members, but based on some posts I've seen here and on other threads, it needs to be pointed out that using Ford points to buy something does not make it free, or cheaper

Again, I know most people are aware of this but Ford points are essentially "company script." They are currency. Buyers should be just as concerned with cost as they would be if spending USD.

For example, I noticed the hitch carrier that Ford sells. It think it's made by Curt. It looked decent but seemed overpriced. I looked around and found the exact same model # carrier for almost half the price at NAPA, delivered.

Of course, the points should be spent on something. My problem is that a) I do all of the service myself (even if an oil change was free, it's not worth it to me to go to the dealer) and b) I have no need for much of what Ford sells.

Bottom line, spend those Ford points as if they were dollars -- because they are.

I'm in the same situation. I wish Ford made it easier to use the points for something like parts and not just accessories, and online at any dealer, etc. Right now, it's just a giant PITA to use them, even going to my local dealer. I did manage to use a few on a very overpriced "Ford Racing" air pressure gauge to keep in the spare well. There's really not that much I really want in accessories (for their prices). Cheers!

As with so much else these days, the Ford Points seem like more of a marketing gimmick.

* Each point = $0.05 -- so the 42,000 points BS buyers got are worth $210. Still, better than nothing.
* The items I've looked into are significantly over-priced, so that $210 might be closer to $140.
* Some of the items, like some NOCO jump starters, have poor reviews. Bad at any price.
* As you said, it is inconvenient to use the points.

The inconvenience is probably intentional, because they want to get you to go to the dealer. Some people may not mind that, but after the way we were treated when taking delivery of our BS BL, I'd be happy to never set foot in the dealership again. That experience aside, we are retired and like staying home as much as possible. I do almost all of my buying online. It would be nice to be able to use the Ford points online, but that's not possible (AFAIK).

We did buy a "Ford" safety harness for our dog, and 2 oil filters, with Ford points. IIRC, we have ~$140 worth of points left, I need to spend them on something -- maybe a few oil filters and something else?

Treat yourself to a great dealership service department, one with hot fresh cookies, and have them perform The Works. Maybe even spend the night wherever that dealership is located (since you don’t want to step foot in the dealership your bought from).

Btw you can spend the points online at the Ford online website where you get free shipping but have to pay the usual markup there if it’s not one of the discounted items.
It's been a while since I ordered the harness and the oil filters, but one thing I know for sure was that if we wanted to use the points, the order had to be picked up at the dealership, . There were no other options.

Maybe that policy has changed?

Another thing is that there was a 20% discount online, for the customer's "first order", but that was only for cash/USD purchases. Points were not accepted. If using points, the discount had to be applied by the dealership.

I believe I had to pay with a credit card and then the points were used by the dealership parts guy to give us a credit.

IIRC, the 20% discount was applied at the dealership, but they knew nothing about a "first order" discount, they used their own discount.

It was more involved than it needed to be.

I believe Ford Parts allows points to be used and provides free shipping and sometimes offers other discounts

The only time was worth it for me was for an oversize part - shipping at all other internet discounted Ford parts stores was outrageous so the free shipping was worth it even though ordering at Ford Parts is more expensive

Here is the link: https://parts.ford.com/en.html

I clicked on the link for Ford Parts and decided to do a dry run.

First I had to pick one of five dealers in our area -- I'm not sure why. I guess Ford does not sell direct to customers? I selected the next closest one, Hagerstown Ford (not the dealer we bought the BS BL from).

Then I selected 4 oil filters. Here's the page. You'll see there is a notice in red font saying I have a backordered part in my cart. I'm not sure what that means, unless the 910S filters are back-ordered (there is nothing else in the cart). I guess that's what they mean by, "This part will be available within 1-2 business days."

Then I tried to order the alternative oil filter (labeled in French). Nope. N/A for 1-2 days.
Then I looked at the cabin air filter. Nope. Backordered.
Engine air filter? No luck there either.
I finally got lucky with the ATF filter.

I chose the slowest shipping (figuring that would be free). Nope. It's about $8:

When I went to checkout it said my home phone number (which I've had for decades) is invalid(?). It seemed to accept my cellphone number in the 2nd box, but that was NOT good enough. The "invalid" home number caused the website to go into lockdown.

I was stuck and could go no further. So IDK whether they take Ford Points now, but they didn't before, and their "free shipping" claim is not true -- at least not in my case.

It's strange how many parts are back-ordered. It's also odd that they will not let customers go ahead and order when the parts they want will be available within 1-2 days.
