I am considering putting 25mm wheel spacers on my BSBL - has anybody done this? How did it drive afterwards?

I don't want to put a lift on but want bigger tires on the factory rims.

If the spacers are to extend the wheels past the wheel wells, I'd refrain from it. It will only toss sand and rocks against the sides and mess up the paint.

I never liked the look of tires extending outside the wheel wells.

KnoxBronc51 has some 25mm spacers. Said it rides great with no issues.

Much as I'm not a fan of spacers in general, that is a good look. Really fills out the wheel wells and flows nicely with the factory fenders. Wonder if it affects turning radius and rubs?

I have 25mm spacers. I installed at the same time as a lift. The handling was definitely affected by one of those things. Once I had it aligned, it has been great. If you do the spacers, I would recommend a good alignment after, especially if you notice any odd feeling to the handling.

25 is alot. Perhaps start with 12-15 and you may find that fits better and looks just as good. Also make sure they’re hubcentric. I had spacers on my previous coupes but can’t say Id get them for a vehicle that may see offroad.

Mine are 20 and I love how it improved handling and the looks. I did mine because once the bushwhacker flares were added, it made the tires look recessed.

And I will add I did not see negatives from rubbing or when off-roading.

What tires are those? Size and brand? Where did you get the spacers from?

Not my truck but if you zoom in they look like BFG KO2's.

They're great tires if you're into off roading but they're expensive compared to other AT's. On the road they're loud, wear quickly and will kill your MPG due to their weight. I personally prefer Goodyear Duratracs or General Grabber 2's if you need a solid AT tire.

The problem with spacers that are less than 20mm is that they are just a piece of metal that fits between the back hub surface of the wheel and the vehicle’s hub surface. That means that you need to either put longer studs in the hub or find a lug nut with an extended reach.

Wheel spacers that are 20mm or thicker come with studs installed and basic lug nuts to attach the spacer to the hub and then you attach the wheel to the studs on the spacer. The thing to watch out for here is how far the stock studs stick through the spacer. If they do stick through, which they did on the 25 mm spacers I used, is the studs either need to be cut shorter or the wheel needs to have hollow spaces on the back side for the studs to stick into. My wheels had that space for the studs to stick into and no trimming was required.

Do you think the wheels have enough space to use 20mm spacers, or would that require trimming?

20mm worked with my stock 18" rims but barely, was very close. No prob with my other rims, much more clearance for stud to wheel inside. 50k on bs and running good.

I think that @dakman answered your question above. 20mm spacers will work, the question becomes, do you have to modify the wheel studs. He says that they barely fit, I never tried with the stock wheels and I used a 25mm spacer. It really comes down to how deep those pockets next to the lug holes are in the wheel.

The other thing to keep in mind is that adding a wheel spacer reduces the size of tire you can run.
