You can get a USB cd player for under $30 and rip them to your PC then copy the folders to any USB stick. I'm pretty sure I used FAT32 format on the stick. Plug it in and select Audio->Source. It often takes 15 or so seconds for the USB device to be detected.

If you have windows 10 or 11, Media player will do the job. That's what I use.

I think VLC will also, it's open source. Use it on my phone.

Do you already have a home CD Player and does it have a port to plug in a USB Device? You may be able to use that setup to quickly rip CDs to USB.

I use Mediaplayer to rip CD to computer. USB and listen using SYNC

Also placed subset of 7,000 song master library on my phone. Used to listen using VLC and Android Auto. Now use Musicolet.

I have used Exact Audio Copy (EAC) for years. Love the options.

I have also used MP3 Tag Editor for years, as well, to police up any metadata errors in my collection.

Both Windows-based; the latter also offers a Mac OS version. Donations accepted.

I put the CD into the player on my laptop, download it and then plug in a USB and load the music to it using Windows Media player

Great thread.

I was wondering the same thing, although I typically have my phone plugged into the UISB port and don't have a thumb drive that plugs into the "C" type USB port.

I also use Album Art downloader to add album art to my old album downloads.

I also use "mp3tag which allows you to modify the tags on each audio file .. drop in custom Album art for a song (impress the wife with a picture of her on a favorite song)." I used the USB stick on my BMW X3 and loved using the stick.

Can the USB stick be put into the port in the console cavity or does it have to be in the dash port?

USB ports in console are “power only”; they will charge, but not data ports. The ports in the under dash cubby are both charge and data ports.
THanks for the info. Have to see if I can find a "C" type thumb drive
