Yes!You can choose to wait on the navigation update until after Ford releases the next Sync update. It’ll be much easier then.
Not everyone has a smart phone with three different apps that work fine is my guess. Can anyone tell me why I need Nav functions in the infotainment system when I have a smart phone with three different Map apps that all work fine?
Sounds like I should wait. Cause without bad luck I would not have any, and if I try to install the new Maps all hell will break lose.As I reported in this thread, like @thomasm23, while installing the latest Navigation Maps NA 2 22, I received Error Code: MEM_ERR03

And after the NA 2 22 install had apparently completed, I received Error Code: VER_ERR08 followed soon after by the FordPass App loss of communication (synchronization) with the TCU - Telematic Control Unit Module (modem).
With a byzantine approach I was able to restore the FordPass Apps connection to the vehicle but not without much consternation. It’s a complicated procedure even had to put the Settings into Valet mode!
It really bodes well to delay the install of the Navigation Maps NA 2 22 update until after Ford releases the next Sync 3.4 update that corrects the 22251 issues. There is no predicable way to know how the system will react under the 22251 installation that most have in their vehicles.
But in the end (and because it is just a machine), everything is back to working and I have Navigation Maps NA 2 22 installed.
Built-in navigation offers at least one advantage: off-line maps. If you go out of cell range with your smart phone you lose navigation/traffic-avoidance capability. You can download off-line maps to your device, but if you forget to do so before you get out of range you lose navigation capability. Can anyone tell me why I need Nav functions in the infotainment system when I have a smart phone with three different Map apps that all work fine?
If Android Auto was wireless on the BS like my wife's HR-V, I wouldn't update the NAV. Once you get used to wireless Android Auto, using a wire sucks. Can anyone tell me why I need Nav functions in the infotainment system when I have a smart phone with three different Map apps that all work fine?
Because I only have one Map app that works fine. Can anyone tell me why I need Nav functions in the infotainment system when I have a smart phone with three different Map apps that all work fine?
You could always lose your phone, but the chance of losing your BS. The odds are in your favour. Can anyone tell me why I need Nav functions in the infotainment system when I have a smart phone with three different Map apps that all work fine?
Did you deactivate the vehicle from FordPass app before installing? As I reported in this thread, like @thomasm23, while installing the latest Navigation Maps NA 2 22, I received Error Code: MEM_ERR03

I did the Nav NA 2 22 install the 2nd time using a known good 64G faster USB-C device and that worked (instead of a known good 32G USB-A device).Did you deactivate the vehicle from FordPass app before installing?
I had to free up some space in rwdata partition before installing by doing a soft reset for 2 minutes. I assume the MEM_ERR03 refers to the rwdata partition.
What was your procedure for install?
