There seems to be confusion among Bronco Sport owners regarding the current version of SYNC. Every 21-24 Bronco Sport comes standard with SYNC Version 3.4 There are Build numbers assigned to the latest update of SYNC 3.4

Build 23188 is the latest build and corrects the issues associated with Build 22251 or earlier. If you are still on Build 22251 or earlier, the update is very easy and quick. Do not rely on checking for updates using the head unit if you are on Build 22251. You will not be able to update that way based on the partition issues related to Build 22251. If you have not yet had issues with Build 22251, you eventually will.

The build number code is:
23 equals the year
188 equals the day of the year

Refer to the following link for easy instructions for update.

Good advice. My FordPass stopped working correctly, and although my in car menu stated I was up to date, I was not at 23188. With the help of Ford Support I updated my software to 23188 by downloading the update to a USB stick via my computer. Note : i tried updating via the in car wifi method but it never completed. Support told me that update via the in car menu could take hours, even days. Best to update via USB stick. Anyhow after the update FordPass works again.

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but can I install this latest update without installing prior updates that came out after my Bronco Sport was built? I've had it for around 18 months and I know there were software updates between what I got from the factory and the latest.

I updated both our BL and Escape to 23188. My Escape had the problematic 22251 and my wife's Badlands had an earlier 3.4 version.

Both updated to 23188 by USB download from Ford. No issues once I followed the detailed instructions.

I have a issue getting the update to download to a flash drive.
A) I have a chromebook, STRIKE ONE
B) I tried using the local public library but they have firewalls preventing download, STRIKE TWO
C) I don't have any personal contacts locally, Foul Ball...
Dumb question #1
Can I go to the dealership and get update(s) downloaded to flash drive? Then do the update myself.
Dumb question #2
Can the .zip file be emailed and then downloaded to flash drive?
Dumb question #3
Does anyone have some positive suggestions to resolve this situation?

I talked to ford 800 number last night and they told me if I follow thru with my scheduled appointment that it will cost me the hourly rate+.

I'll sit back and wait for the onslaught.

Thank you in advance,
Pops

1. Can you get a trusted friend to follow Ford’s instructions and use their PC to download the Sync update and put onto a USB Device (using their PC) then put the USB Device into US Mail to you?

Can I update SYNC®* using a Chromebook**?
SYNC files cannot be extracted on a Chromebook™**.
You will need to use either a PC or Mac®***. Instructions for both are located at https://www.ford.com/support/how-tos/sync/sync-updates/how-do-i-extract-the-sync-update-files-to-my-flash-drive/
Have you tried updated via WIFI ?

Ford says the update is too large for wifi update, must use flash drive, per my phone conversation with them.

I just had my son download and open with windows explorer, then email it to me. I've downloaded it to a flash drive and I'm heading out to give it a go.

The install procedures .pdf from Ford doesn't include all the procedures that others are recommending on other threads?

The Sync 3.4.xxxxx install procedures on the Ford website only apply to the Sync updates that owners can do.

Other types of updates are dealer install only. Which specific updates are you referring to?

Unfortunately, I'm one of the fee out there in the world who doesn't own a computer and with my internet it would probably take a month to download the update.
So, dealer here I come. Lol.
