I'm not sure Mark. I'll give it a try and let you know if that works.

Finally! Thanks for the help, Mark! Update completed on the vehicle. I couldn't notify Ford though. Hopefully they'll pick it up through Wi-Fi eventually.

I need some advice. I downloaded and performed the Sync3 update, no problems and completed normally in about 10 minutes of driving. The xml file was written to my USB stick at completion, but it fails as "Sync_VOAK0493_3FMC…. Upload Failed" when I attempt to upload it to Ford. Is this a known issue?

Then I tried the map update, there is one available for my VIN but there is no longer an option for a free download. The only option is the $40 preloaded USB stick. What happened to the free download option?

Thanks for any info on this. Tnx

Is your Bronco Sport a ‘21 a ‘22 or a ‘23?

The upload of the xml file failed for me last October for the 22200 update and a month ago for the 22251 update. Ford says it’s a known issue. I have a ‘22.

some recommend a master reset so that your BS reports it’s update to the Ford website but that didn’t work for me. The Ford website continues to report (since October 2022) that I need to update Sync and the website shows a blank for the version it thinks I have but my BS settings screen shows I have 22251 and is up to date.

regarding the Maps update, contact the SYNC3: Connected Services Team at +1 (833) 389-0848 to ask the question about a free download. NAV 2 21 is the latest as far as I know.

Mine's a '22.

I'll contact the Connected Services Team, I current have NAV 2 20.

Thanks for the help!

UPDATE: Spoke to Tyler at Connected Services Team. It appears that someone downloaded the update already using my VIN , that's why only the paid option appears for me. They agreed to emailing me the update, although maybe 5-7 bdays before I get it.

That’s interesting anyone could use another’s VIN for the Maps download … but seems like nothing is in place to prevent that.

thanks for the info about your ‘22. I believe there is an issue with the Ford website for at least some ‘22 Bronco Sport VINs (maybe for some ‘23 VINs as well) .. I reported that to the Ford software specialists back in September/October 2022 for my “22 VIN (a number of things led me to that conclusion both in regards to the Maps update and the reporting of the XML file following the SYNC3 upgrade and since that time is possible any issues with Maps update for ‘22 and ‘23 VINs may have been resolved now).

The upload of the XML file following the SYNC3 upgrade continues to be an issue for (some) ‘22 and ‘23 VINs.

The Ford owner site is a mess. It tells me my wife's '20 Eurosport has a sync update. When you check on the vehicle it says it's up to date. It did the exact same thing with my '23 OBX. The vehicle told me it was up to date. The site said it had a update. I finally saw 22251 on here and uploaded it with a USB. Now the vehicle is up to date, but Ford doesn't know it. The site wouldn't take the file download to verify. Maybe eventually everything will get back on track via Wi-Fi.

Ford replied to me about my inability to DL the free map update, see below.
There was no change in "About Sync" display after the resets, exactly the same.

I did lose all my Navigation Favorites & radio presets after the reset, and most other settings go to default, a big hassle with nothing gained.

======================

I received your escalation regarding your Navigation Map Update. Can you please complete the three resets below then access your About SYNC screen (Settings>General>About SYNC) and take a picture of both screens inside?

Master Rest Instructions:
1. Press the Settings button.
2. Select General.
3. Scroll down and select Master Reset and confirm the master reset on the next screen.

Module reset:
1. Select Radio. For information on how to change the input source, please refer to the Owner's Manual.
2. Hold the Power button (center of the volume knob) + the Right-Seek button at the same time for up to 5 seconds.
3. The display will indicate when the module is resetting. You may then release the buttons.

Key Cycle
1. Turn the vehicle completely off. The vehicle engine should not be running, and the vehicle should not be in accessory mode. Many newer vehicles will keep the radio on, even when the car is turned off until a door is opened.
2. Open the driver’s door and lock the door.
3. Close the driver’s door.
4. Wait two minutes and ensure the radio display turns off completely.
5. Restart the vehicle.

Yep that is always their same request. Must have worked for someone once and now it’s their script. And another agent likely will tell you to do it again to be sure lol.
They did the same to me but eventually sent me the Maps update on a USB Drive. (No cost because the website did not work in October for ‘22 MY Bronco Sports)

Yep but ignore all that and put the latest SYNC 3.4 22251 (or whatever is latest) on to a properly formatted and large enough size USB drive. Which I thought you already did that a week or two ago? Didn’t you post pics of the USB Drive content? Maybe was someone else. And the SYNC 3.4 update does work via WiFi.

I did that and now my vehicle has 22251 installed. The problem is that the Ford owners site does not know this and tells me a update is due.

Yep you, me and some others see the same thing but just ignore it (someday Ford might fix that upload issue).

After updating using a USB flash drive, connect the vehicle to a stable 802.11 Wi-Fi network. Select check for Sync updates.

This should confirm you are up to date with Build 22251 and update the Ford website regarding your vehicle.

On my ‘22 (and as others with ‘22s and maybe ‘23s have stated), the vehicle reports up to date build 22251 but even after a month (or after 3 months from the 22200 install), Fords website continues to report an update is available. Ford has acknowledged this is an issue they need to fix.

I had the same issue on my 2021 Badlands. After a master reset and reconnecting to my home WiFi Ford's website reported my system was up-to-date. SYNC must have reported back to Ford over WiFi because it never generated the .xml file following the update, so I had nothing to upload.

You might try turning off automatic updates and disconnecting from your home WiFi. Then, reconnect to WiFi and turn auto updates back on. After that, check the current version in SYNC.

No, it just does not update the Ford website ever for (some) ‘22s and ‘23s. I worked with Ford on this issue a few months ago and Ford acknowledged the problem but gave no ETA for a fix.

no form of reset including master reset solves the issue. I have a very strong WiFi in the garage and the vehicle is up to date with SYNC 3.4 22251. Trying to upload the XML file after the SYNC upgrade fails. I think the issue is the Ford website is not recognizing (some) ‘22 and ‘23 VINs.
